Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to EG43 Elizabeth Garden, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. It sounds a bit corporate, doesn’t it? But this little 3-star spot in Nipponbashi actually surprised me in the best way possible. The location is what really got me excited though – you’re literally in the heart of electronics heaven, with Den Den Town’s neon-lit gadget shops practically at your doorstep. I mean, you can grab authentic takoyaki from a street vendor at 11 PM and be back in your room in three minutes flat.
What I love about this place is how it feels distinctly Japanese without trying too hard. The lobby has this clean, minimalist vibe that somehow manages to be welcoming rather than sterile – there’s usually soft jazz playing and the staff actually remembers your name after the second day (which honestly doesn’t happen everywhere). The rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed, and you know what? The beds are surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range hotel. I’ve stayed in pricier places in Osaka where I woke up with a crick in my neck, but not here. The bathrooms are those compact Japanese-style setups that somehow fit everything you need into a space the size of a phone booth – it’s like architectural magic.
Here’s the thing about Nipponbashi that guidebooks don’t always mention: it’s incredibly well-connected but not touristy-crazy like Dotonbori. You’ve got Nippombashi Station right there (literally a 2-minute walk), which gets you to Namba in one stop or Kyoto in under an hour. The neighborhood has this authentic working vibe during the day – lots of locals heading to offices, small family-run restaurants that don’t have English menus but serve incredible katsu curry. I discovered this tiny coffee shop around the corner that opens at 6 AM and makes the most perfect morning espresso. The hotel’s 8.1 rating makes total sense when you factor in the location value – you’re paying reasonable money to be in central Osaka without the central Osaka chaos. Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but honestly? Sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable base where you can crash after exploring the city all day. The check-in process was smooth, the WiFi actually works throughout the building, and I never heard my neighbors through the walls, which is saying something in Japan where space is premium. If you’re the type who spends most of your time out exploring rather than lounging in a hotel spa, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

What could be improved: The smell from the toilet

とにかく広く、部屋が綺麗で快適でした。大人数での宿泊にはとても最適でした。
What could be improved: 洗面所から下水ら匂いがした。洗面所の換気扇を付けっぱなしにすると多少は改善された。
また、アメニティの歯ブラシがよくあるチューブの歯磨き粉が付いているタイプではなく先端のブラシに歯磨き粉が直接ついているタイプだったので、複数日宿泊する場合は別途で歯磨き粉を持参する必要があると感じた。(そのタイプの歯磨き粉は初めてだったため、最初ゴミがついているのかと勘違いしてしまった。)Satoshi from Japan – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
