You know what struck me first about EG12 Elizabeth Garden? It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Nipponbashi that most tourists completely miss – which is honestly part of its charm. I mean, everyone’s rushing around Dotonbori or getting lost in Namba, but here you are on this surprisingly peaceful street that still puts you right in the thick of things. The building itself has that understated Japanese business hotel vibe, nothing flashy, but when you’re pulling an 8.8 rating, you’re clearly doing something right.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Nippombashi Station, and I love that you can hit both the Sakaisuji and Sennichimae lines without the chaos of the major tourist stations. What really won me over though – and this might sound weird – is how quiet it gets at night. During the day you’ve got all the electronics shops and the buzz of Nipponbashi happening around you (it’s sort of like Tokyo’s Akihabara but way more chill), but come evening, it actually settles down. The walls are solid enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway, which honestly can make or break a stay in Osaka where some places are just paper-thin.

The rooms are typical Japanese efficiency – not huge, but everything’s exactly where it should be. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a 3-star spot, and I appreciated the little touches like having enough outlets near the bed (sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many places get this wrong). Check-in was smooth, staff spoke decent English, and they had this helpful little map with hand-drawn notes showing the best convenience stores and where to catch different train lines. What I really appreciated was their practical approach – they’re not trying to be some luxury experience, they just want to make sure you sleep well and can navigate the city easily. The neighborhood comes alive differently depending on when you’re there too. Weekday mornings you’ll see all the electronics shop owners setting up, but weekends bring a different crowd exploring the vintage game stores and little cafes tucked between the bigger shops. It’s one of those areas where you stumble onto great ramen at 11 PM or find yourself in a tiny bar talking to locals who are genuinely curious about where you’re from. For the price point and that rating, EG12 gets the fundamentals right – clean, quiet, well-located, and run by people who actually care about the details that matter when you’re trying to make the most of your time in Osaka.

  This property is in a perfect location—super close to Kuromon market and Dotonbori. The bedrooms were large. I had only a small problem during my stay with the washer, which has only Japanese buttons. I contacted the property manager through live chat, and they responded pretty fast.

  Clean and well maintained rooms, utility facilities, and location. The hotel/apartment owner delivers our expectation to have a hassle-free accommodation for a big family of 13 people. This is highly recommended for other tourists who wants to have a visit in Osaka and stay close to most famous districts such as Dotonbori, Namba, etc.
  
  What could be improved: The way lead to our room entrance is a bit look like a backyard or backend of a building facility as we can see some pumps and electrical panelboards. Maybe a little bit of improvement on aesthetics leading to our room such as Osaka-themed decorations and the like can make the facade more tourist-like accommodation for foreigners.
