Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the DEL style Osaka Higashi Temma? It’s tucked into this quiet residential pocket of Kita-ku that most tourists completely miss – and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the chaos of Osaka Station, but when you step outside the hotel, it feels like you’ve discovered some secret neighborhood where actual Osakans live their daily lives.
The lobby has this clean, minimalist vibe that screams modern Japan without trying too hard. Check-in was surprisingly smooth (even with my terrible Japanese), and the staff actually seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just professionally polite. My room on the seventh floor was compact but thoughtfully designed – everything had its place, and I loved how the bathroom felt way more spacious than it had any right to be. The bed was properly firm, not that mushy hotel bed nonsense, and the blackout curtains actually worked, which is a godsend when you’re dealing with jet lag. The one thing that caught me off guard was how quiet it gets at night. I was expecting typical city noise, but this little corner of Higashi Temma settles into this peaceful hum after about 9 PM.
What really won me over was the location – and I don’t mean that in the usual “convenient to everything” way travel sites always say. There’s this fantastic little ramen joint called Menya 7.5Hz just around the corner that locals line up for (seriously, follow the salary workers at lunch). The Temmangu Shrine is maybe five minutes away, perfect for an early morning walk before the crowds show up. And here’s something I discovered by accident: the rooftop has these glimpses of Osaka Castle if you know where to look, especially nice during sunset. The Keihan Main Line is right there too, which makes getting to Kyoto ridiculously easy – something I wish I’d planned better because I ended up making three day trips. Parking might be tight if you’re driving, but honestly, you don’t need a car from this spot. The whole Tenma area has this working-class authenticity that feels refreshing after dealing with tourist-heavy districts. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities, but it nails that sweet spot of comfort, location, and price that makes you want to book the same place next time instead of gambling on somewhere new.

Staff
All of the staff speak English well. They are very polite, kind, and helpful — always ready to assist with anything you need.
Facilities
The hotel is very cozy, with a pleasant design and a fresh renovation. The rooms are small but extremely comfortable. Everything you might need is there — including an air purifier and chargers for all types of devices.
What could be improved: Breakfast
It’s served in a different building. You get a choice of two options — waffles with egg or a hot dog. That’s it.Angel from Hong Kong – 29 May 2025 (9/10)
The room was comfortable and the staff provides good cleaning services. The location is also convenient, which is close to JR station and 2 subway lines. The neighborhood is also quiet and cozy.
What could be improved: The toilet is slightly small but it is understandable.Claire from Australia – 28 May 2025 (9/10)
The staff were incredible, helpful, kind and compassionate.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was meticulously thought out. The staff were amazing, and the location great. Nothing was too much trouble- we loved staying.
Only thing I wasn’t keen on was the breakfast- we’d assumed it was a buffet but it was more western style toast and coffee at a coffee shop on the corner, and we’ve come to Japan to see and experience Japanese culture, this seemed a little off brand. The coffee shop were a bit harsh too- had to choose between butter OR jam for toast. Couldn’t have both which is how you’d usually eat it. And it’s such a tiny thing but it felt a bit stingy. And one of the breakfast choices was a hotdog? We ended up wishing we hadn’t paid for breakfast included. Other than that, highly rated.Leo from Philippines – 18 May 2025 (9/10)
Near both JR and subway stations; Easy check in and checkout process; eco-friendly policies; availability of laundry machines; great staff

Everything was near at the hotel…
Convenient store (7/11, Lawson & Family mart)Bonita from Hong Kong – 7 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location – it’s literally a few mins walk from the OsakaTemmangu JR station and the Minami-Morimachi Metro station. It’s also a walkable distance to the Osaka Castle Park (coz whether you opt to take public transport or on foot it’s both gonna take you around 40mins)
Interior – decent and modern. Would have been better if there’s more storage space in the room. I’ve stayed at other Daiwa Roynet hotels and some had ample shelves that allow very convenient storing of items.
Amenities – there are coffee tea and some basic amenities like toothbrush, cleaning oil etc at the lobby
Facilities – there are coin operated laundries which we didn’t use. There is also a seating area at the lobby with free coffee machine as well as a microwave which could be quite useful. There’s also a public bath, it’s not big but sufficient if you want to relax at the end of a long day. They also use showerheads from Refa which I enjoyed.
Overall a very pleasant stay.Faith from United Arab Emirates – 5 April 2025 (9/10)
