Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka-Kitahama Overview
You know what struck me first about the Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka-Kitahama? It’s tucked away in this surprisingly quiet pocket of the city that most tourists never see. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Osaka’s business district on Koraibashi street, but step inside and it’s like someone hit the mute button on all that urban chaos outside.
The thing about staying in Kitahama is that you’re actually living like a local for a few days. I’d walk out each morning and see the same salarymen grabbing coffee from the convenience store across the street, and honestly, it made me feel less like a tourist bumbling around with a map. The hotel itself has that clean, minimalist Japanese efficiency thing down to a science – rooms aren’t huge (let’s be real, this is Japan), but everything’s so thoughtfully designed that you don’t feel cramped. The bathroom setup is particularly clever, with this little wet room concept that actually works better than those awkward Western-style tubs you find in some international chains. And the beds? Well, I’m picky about mattresses, but I slept like a rock every single night.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits right between the old and new Osaka. You can walk to Osaka Castle in about fifteen minutes if you’re feeling energetic, or hop on the Keihan line at Kitahama Station – which is basically next door – and you’re in Kyoto in forty minutes. But here’s the thing nobody tells you: some of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the city are within a three-block radius. There’s this tiny yakitori place down a side alley that I never would have found if the front desk guy hadn’t sketched me a little map. The staff, by the way, actually seem to care about whether you have a good time, which sounds obvious but isn’t always the case. They’re not pushy about it, just genuinely helpful in that understated Japanese way. My only minor gripe is that the elevators can get a bit crowded during the morning rush – apparently a lot of business travelers stay here during the week – but that’s pretty much it. For the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to beat.

HUGE rooms! Great toiletries! Laundry facilities were really handy. Location was close to several tourist spots with 7 eleven, Mos burger and Lawsons all within a 2 minute walk. Staff were fabulous and organised for our bags to be sent back to Tokyo so we could travel light on the Shinkansen.
What could be improved: Nothing.
