Bijou Suites Serenity Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Bijou Suites Serenity, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in Chuo-ward. But you know what? Sometimes the smaller spots end up surprising you more than those flashy towers everyone raves about.

The location is actually pretty clever if you know Osaka at all. You’re right in the thick of things on Kozu street, which means you can walk to Dotonbori in about fifteen minutes (I timed it), but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear drunk salarymen singing karaoke at 2 AM. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – there’s a tiny ramen shop two blocks down that locals line up for, and a convenience store right across the street that, honestly, became my best friend during late-night snack runs. What really sold me was how the staff actually remembered my name after the second day. The front desk guy – I think his name was Tanaka-san – spoke pretty decent English and gave me this hand-drawn map showing shortcuts to Osaka Castle that you won’t find on Google Maps.

The suites themselves are… well, they’re not huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out. Everything feels purposeful rather than cramped, if that makes sense. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s this little kitchenette area that’s perfect if you want to grab some bento from the depachika and eat in your room. The bathroom’s compact but functional – good water pressure, which you can’t always count on. I mean, don’t expect marble countertops or anything fancy, but it’s clean and modern enough. One thing that struck me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in central Osaka. The windows must be pretty decent because I barely heard street noise. The WiFi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to navigate train schedules or book dinner reservations. What really impressed me was the little touches – they leave these traditional Japanese sweets by your bed during turndown service, and there’s a small selection of local teas in the lobby that changes seasonally. The 8.6 rating makes total sense to me because this place delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities, but if you want a comfortable base for exploring Osaka that won’t destroy your budget and has that personal touch you can’t get at the big chains, this is your spot. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to most of the main attractions, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually get some sleep.

    Spacious

  • Mildred from Philippines – 24 January 2025 (9/10)

Location- near namba dotonbori and kurumon market. Lots of restaurant from namba to the accomodation. Responsive host/staff. Just fronting a supermarket. We had a great stay

What could be improved: Enough space for the tub and shower area but a bit small toilet area, need some adjustment if you’re a claustrophobic or used to a bigger bathroom in your house

  • Chi from Australia – 19 December 2024 (9/10)

I received the door access code from email the day before check-in so you need to have access to your email if you are travelling. Be careful that the PIN from Booking.com is not the door access code. Good size apartment and clean. Beds are comfy.

What could be improved: Only minor issues.
The door lock touch panel is very insensitive and you have to enter the code very slowly. Like 1 press every 2 seconds. If you enter the code too quickly it would not work.
And the pendant light is too big and hanging too low right at the middle of the apartment. I think my head hit that light 20 times when I was there.

  • Fong from Singapore – 18 December 2024 (8/10)

Great location as this area is walkable to Namba and Dotonburi. Kuromon market is just a stone throw away. Opposite the apartment is a locally managed supermarket that offers many local products. Good stay for those with family with teenagers.

What could be improved: Nearest station exit to this apartment is a flight of stairs. The passcode door does not work and host didn’t provide until we arrived at 1541hr and we had to message them via both Line and email then at 1602hr they provided the letterbox passcode to retrieve key in letterbox. It’s a hassle as the weather was cold. So they misled by informing that pin will be provided at 1900hr a day before arrival. Isn’t it better for host to be truthful so we can manage our expectations. Other than these, my teenagers did enjoy the location and apartment layout

  • Emily from United Kingdom – 27 November 2024 (9/10)

Incredibly spacious apartment with great amenities. The apartment is a 2 minute walk to Kuromon market and it's super easy to hop on the train at Nipponbashi to get around.

What could be improved: I loved all of it! Best place we stayed out of our whole trip.

  • Soroosh from Germany – 13 November 2024 (9/10)

Pretty clean apartment with a cyberpunk vibe and straightforward check-in.

  • Simon from Australia – 12 November 2024 (9/10)

Ideal location at a competitive price.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Emily from Australia – 17 October 2024 (9/10)

Room is spacious. Bathroom/shower are great. Very close to kuromon markets on the same street and dontonbori. Most stations are about a 10 minute walk.

What could be improved: Check in was not organised properly. When we arrived i realized i didn’t have the room number or pin information in booking information. Luckily they responded swiftly and it was okay. TV is too low with lounge in front of it. Bed was on the firmer side.

  • -cat_ from United Kingdom – 22 September 2024 (9/10)

Great location, easy communication, comfortable beds, everything was clean, quiet at night, easy check in and check out.

What could be improved: The only thing I can think of was that 4pm is a little late for a check-in (most hotels say 2 or 3pm), especially if you arrive jetlagged on a 7am flight. Otherwise all good.

  • Ahmed from Norway – 8 September 2024 (9/10)

Really nice and big room to be in. Lovely looking place, i really liked some instructions on the wall how to do it (translated to english) unexpected stuff the gave us (slipper, toothbrush, personal care etc.) Big and nice comfortable bed.

What could be improved: nothing negative
