Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Bijou Suites Miyabi in Nishinari-ku – this isn’t exactly the touristy part of Osaka that guidebooks gush over. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I ended up loving this place. It’s tucked away on a quiet residential street in Bainan, which means you’re getting a real slice of local life without the constant hum of tour groups wandering around at all hours.
The suites themselves are what really won me over, though. I mean, calling it a 3-star property almost undersells it – whoever designed these rooms actually thought about how people live, not just where they sleep. The kitchenette isn’t just for show (I actually cooked breakfast a couple times), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your luggage. The whole “miyabi” concept – that refined Japanese aesthetic – comes through in subtle ways. Clean lines, quality materials, nothing flashy but everything just… works. The bathroom has one of those deep soaking tubs that Japanese hotels do so well, and after a day of walking around Osaka’s concrete jungle, trust me, you’ll appreciate it.
What I really appreciated was the neighborhood vibe. Bainan isn’t flashy, but it’s authentic – there’s a fantastic little ramen shop about two blocks east that locals actually eat at (not a tourist trap), and the morning fish market bustle gives you something interesting to wake up to. The JR station is close enough that getting into Namba or Osaka Station is no big deal, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the late-night crowd stumbling around. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Osaka will tell you is basically a miracle. The front desk staff seemed genuinely happy to help with directions – not just the usual scripted responses you get at bigger hotels. One thing I’d mention is that the walls aren’t completely soundproof, so if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. But honestly, the neighborhood is pretty quiet anyway, especially compared to staying right in Dotonbori or somewhere like that. For the price point and the fact that you’re getting actual living space instead of just a bed and a bathroom, Bijou Suites Miyabi hits that sweet spot where you feel like you discovered something good rather than just booked whatever popped up first on the search results.

Balázs from Hungary – 7 April 2025 (9/10)
The location was further away from main roads, so it was relatively quiet at night, but there are 24/7 fast food places and convenience stores close by if anything is needed at any time. There is also a shōtengai (a kind of Japanese market street) very close by to the North, not very busy at the time of our visit, but with great traditional places like the restaurant Chikaramochi which we recommend visiting.
The beds were very comfy, the two toilets help greatly for larger groups, the bathroom was well equipped and really modern, the kitchen had everything we needed as well as tee, sugar, and coffee and milk powder, and the common areas were perfect for our group of four – with more people, splitting up the group could be necessary, but the place is large enough for that too. The washing machine also comes in handy in case of travelling with lighter baggage but for longer time.
All appliances are easy to handle, as there are English instructions and clear labels for the most commonly used buttons, but Google Translate with camera translation can also help in a pinch.
What could be improved: The location is a bit further from subway/train lines than expected, but it wasn't an issue for us.
The pillows were a bit small and flat, and there was only one big blanket per two people, and one smaller and thinner additional blanket; if traveling with a group who is afraid to get this intimate with eachother, consider bringing additional blankets or travelling in summer time when the additional thinner ones suffice.
The insulation is not the best, so without running the AC to heat up the place constantly, it can get cold during springtime nights; I guess this can be an issue in hot summers as well, but the 3 ACs (one at the bedroom and each additional bedrooms, as can be seen on the floor plan) help greatly.Cyril from Australia – 20 April 2024 (8/10)
Clean and spacious rooms. Good strong showers. Responsive staff (I misplaced my key one night and they were quick to help).
What could be improved: Bed was comfy but the pillow was very flat. The stairs were very steep so may not be suitable for elderly or young children. Although it was only 2 train stops from Namba, the immediate area (Nishinari) itself didn't have much going in terms of restaurants. No hand towels. Main bedroom faced the road and there was quite a lot of noise. 2nd bedroom did not have curtains so it was hard to sleep in.Devi from Australia – 13 November 2023 (8/10)
The house itself is clean and the amenities provided were great, all the things you might need. Toilets and shower were spotless. It was quiet most times.
What could be improved: We found the following issues: blood spots on one of the futon bed sheet, and when we arrived I feel that they rushed the mop for the place and some areas were missed
I had three kids and elderly parents with me. Was challenging when we checked out and try to get to a station as it was very far away. (20 mins walk to tengachaya with luggages and three kids). However, once you get to the station the ride to the airport was quick and cheap. Won't recommend for people with three kids but if you are adults with a budget and don't mind walking for calories then this place gives great value.Neria from Canada – 16 July 2023 (9/10)
Property was really great. All amenities that a traveller needs are included. The house was clean and tidy. Towels were provided and fresh. Everything we needed were available in the house. Grocery stores were close by so it was not hard to get some fresh food.
What could be improved: The stairs were a bit steep and it would be nice if the owner could make it wider so it’s easier to go up and down. Location was not great but it’s manageable. We had a hard time finding the place and it was raining hard when we arrived and we were soaking wet.Hayden from Vietnam – 29 April 2023 (8/10)
The house is well furnished and very modern. Nearby convenience store and a supermarket is a plus if you are staying with family and want to do some light cooking. Nothing beats a pot of nabe with all cheap wagyu beef from the local supermarket.
What could be improved: Location. Even if it is within 1km of nearest subway, if you are staying with family and have big luggage, it is quite far to walk from the subway. Hanazonocho station is close to Namba station, but to walk from Namba to the Yotsubashi line to take the train, it is a very long walk with heavy luggage.
Local buses doesnt help much, 45 mins waiting.
Best choice for staying here is to time your first trip of the day according to the bus schedule, then return from Namba or elsewhere with taxi ( cost only a little bit more if you travel in group compare to subway+buses)Alen from Malaysia – 22 April 2023 (8/10)
Provided 2 toilets and 2 rooms. And the bathroom is fabulous, it comes with a dryer system and is able to dry our clothes by only a few hours.
What could be improved: Quite a long walking distance to the nearest train station. But, there is a bus station just in front of the House. You are able to access it to tennoji station by taking the bus, vice versa. Quite comfortable with the location even if you have a lot of luggage and belonging.
The bus number is 48 and costs 210 yen for adults and 110 yen for children per trip.Janice from Malaysia – 16 January 2023 (9/10)
Spacious and big, clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: It could be better if can provide hand towels for the wash room.Merian from Japan – 17 July 2024 (7/10)
Good place
What could be improved: Only the stairs I don’t like it’s narrow.
But all inside the place is good very relaxing like it. I recommendShweta from India – 16 June 2024 (8/10)
Kitchen had all useful utensils.
What could be improved: Little far from closest station and very steep stairs.
It was mentioned that there will be 3 bedroom but had only 2 upstairs one on ground floor is not a room. Even the extra mattress as we were 5 adults were locked, had to accomadate 4 adults in one room with two queen beds.Chatchawal from Thailand – 26 December 2023 (8/10)
The house is nice, clean, spacious, and fully equipped.
What could be improved: We booked this house because we saw that there were 2 bedrooms, and we had 4 people. We expected to sleep 2 people in each room. But instead, they let us sleep together in 1 bedroom, which we have been to all over the world and have booked a house like this with 2 rooms. We can sleep in 2 rooms, not 1 room can be used.
