Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Bijou Suites Lieto APM – the name sounds a bit fancy for what’s technically a 3-star place, but man, was I wrong. This little gem sits right in Honda, which is actually perfect if you want to be in Nishi-ku without the crazy crowds of Dotonbori breathing down your neck. You know what I mean? Sometimes you just want to come back to somewhere that feels a bit more… normal.

The suites are where this place really shines, and I get why they’re pulling a 9 rating. Each room has this surprisingly spacious layout – not the typical Tokyo-style shoebox you might expect. There’s actually room to spread out your stuff without living out of your suitcase the whole time. The kitchenette isn’t just for show either; I mean, it’s small, but you can actually cook a proper meal if you pick up groceries from the Lawson around the corner. The beds are firm in that way Japanese hotels do so well, and honestly, the blackout curtains are a godsend if you’re dealing with jet lag. What really got me was the attention to detail – heated toilet seats (obviously), but also things like decent water pressure in the shower and enough outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices.

Location-wise, you’re about a 7-minute walk to Honten Station, which connects you to the Hanshin line – super handy for getting to Umeda or even day trips to Kobe. The neighborhood itself is pretty residential, so it’s quiet at night but not dead quiet, if that makes sense. There’s this little ramen shop two blocks over that the front desk guy recommended, and it’s the kind of place where you’re the only tourist but nobody makes a big deal about it. Parking can be a bit tricky since the hotel’s spots fill up fast, but there’s a coin parking lot literally across the street that’s reasonable by Osaka standards. One thing to note – the check-in process is pretty streamlined, but the staff’s English is hit or miss. Not a dealbreaker, just download Google Translate if you’re not confident with basic Japanese. The whole vibe is professional without being stuffy, sort of like staying at a really well-run apartment building rather than a traditional hotel.

  It was absolutely amazing, we were able to check in a little bit earlier so we can leave our luggage. The place was clean and was extremely spacious. There is a train station and convenient store that’s just a few minutes away. Besides that, we had a fantastic time and enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend 👍☺️

  Apartment is great, location is great, it is clean and comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: It was difficult to have they keys. They should inform that the entrance in the apartament has a case that you need to swipe and insert the key. As they have a screen you think you need to put the code to enter and it does not work. I just could enter because the girl in the clean service saw me and helped me, otherwise I would not be able to enter.

  The check in and check out was very easy, great location and beautiful suite (my partner also proposed on our trip which may the stay even more wonderful). Staff are also very helpful and responsive through messaging.

  Location is 6 minute walk from Awaza station. Easy check in, make sure to complete as much as you can on link before arrival.
  Easy access to the expo site, one subway line and straight to Yumeshina in 23 minutes. Great restaurant at very reasonable price downstairs ‘Risollo’

  Check-in was fully online, but easy. The room was very clean and lots of amenities were provided (eg. soap, stove, TV, wifi, free laundry and drying rack). There is also a guide for guests regarding wifi, hot water in the shower, etc., which was very helpful. Overall, it was one of our favourite places to stay during our trip!
  
  What could be improved: The property keys were a little difficult to obtain at first, however, we were able to get them eventually. The location is decent, but may be difficult if you are hauling luggage.
