You know what struck me first about Bijou Suites Kakomi? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel like a hidden gem tucked away in Tengachaya. I mean, this isn’t the flashy Dotonbori area that everyone talks about, but honestly, that’s kind of the point. You’re in a proper Osaka neighborhood where you’ll hear more Japanese than English, and the morning sounds are bicycle bells and shop owners hosing down their storefronts instead of tour groups.

The hotel itself is one of those places that punches way above its weight class. Sure, it’s officially 3-star, but whoever’s running this place clearly cares about the details. The suites (and they actually are suites, not just regular rooms with fancy names) have this clean, minimalist vibe that feels very Japanese without being all theme-park about it. What I really appreciated was the kitchenette setup – not huge, but functional enough that you can make proper coffee in the morning or heat up some of those amazing bento boxes from the convenience store downstairs. Speaking of which, there’s a Lawson literally right there, which is incredibly handy for late-night snacks or if you need to grab something before the shops open.

The Tengachaya location is honestly perfect if you want to experience actual Osaka life. You’re maybe a 15-minute train ride from the main tourist areas, but you’re staying where real people live and work. There’s this fantastic little ramen shop about two blocks away that I stumbled into around 11 PM – just a counter with eight seats and an old guy making the most incredible tonkotsu broth. The hotel staff actually gave me a little hand-drawn map with spots like that marked on it, which was such a nice touch. The train station is close enough that you can walk it in five minutes, even with luggage, but far enough that you don’t get the constant rumble of trains. And honestly, the neighborhood gets quiet after about 10 PM, so if you’re someone who needs actual sleep (rather than just passing out from exhaustion), you’ll appreciate that. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything works exactly as it should, the staff genuinely wants to help, and you end up feeling like you discovered something special rather than just booking another hotel room.

  Beds were very comfortable and big. Fantastic to sleep. Good location.

  The fact that it a whole house in a nice quiet neighbourhood proved for a very relaxing and comofortable experience and exactly what you need after a long day.
  
  Multiple airconditioners especially during summer was an absolute lifesaver for the steaming hot summer in Japan.
  
  Definitely a huge benefit to mention is the many local stores, confectinary shops and convenience store which line your path on the way from the train station, you'll be satiated no matter the time and season you're visiting
  
  Being close to the station, great facilities and an array of house items, huge bedrooms and the wide variety of shops for your daily needs, I would go so far as to purposely gatekeep and not recommend people the house so I can have it for available for my next trip back😂

  The location is good. Not far from the station.

  Convenient compact house for small groups. The place is not very big, but it has all the basic ammenities. The 3 big beds upstairs were very good. Location is also good, close to the station, a short ride from Namba amd Shin-Imamiya, and also a little away from the crowds (for those that look for a quieter place but with good access). A convenience store is nearby.

  The sunken dining area was a bonus as was the tatami flooring. The shower was excellent! The property was quiet and was well positioned for the subway and shops.
  
  What could be improved: The washing machine didn’t work and wasn’t fixed during our stay which was disappointing. There were too many beds in the bedroom which made it difficult to manoeuvre around the room. The sofa was far too hard.
