Bijou Suites Applause

Bijou Suites Applause Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Bijou Suites Applause, you immediately get that “this place knows what it’s doing” feeling. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — honestly, the name might sound a bit dramatic, but the actual space is refreshingly understated. The lobby has this clean, modern Japanese aesthetic that feels both welcoming and efficient. You know what struck me most? The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive, which isn’t always a given at three-star properties.

Location & Neighborhood

The Nishikujo area is actually pretty brilliant for travelers who want to experience Osaka without being right in the tourist chaos. You’re in Konohana Ward, which means you get that authentic local neighborhood vibe — there are family-run restaurants within walking distance and convenience stores on practically every corner. The train connections are solid too; you can reach Osaka Station in about 15 minutes, and Universal Studios Japan is surprisingly close if that’s on your agenda. I mean, couples seem to really love this spot (the 9.3 rating from recent guests backs that up), and I can see why — it feels like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just another hotel district.

The Suites Experience

The word “suites” in the name isn’t just marketing fluff — you actually get proper living space here. Each room has a separate seating area that doesn’t feel cramped, plus a kitchenette that’s actually functional. The beds are comfortable in that distinctly Japanese way where the mattress is firmer than what most Westerners expect, but somehow you sleep better anyway. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets for all your devices, and blackout curtains that actually block out the light completely.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here have this nice, unhurried quality. The breakfast setup is simple but thoughtful — you’re not getting an elaborate buffet, but there’s enough variety to start your day properly. The real charm happens in the evening though, when you can grab ingredients from nearby shops and actually cook something in your kitchenette. It sounds mundane, but there’s something satisfying about making tea in your own space after a long day of sightseeing. The common areas stay quiet too, so if you need to decompress or catch up on planning, you can do it without feeling like you’re in a busy lobby.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Bijou Suites Applause isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or concierge services — that’s not what it’s about. What it does offer is something increasingly rare: a place that feels like a temporary home rather than just a place to sleep. The combination of the suite-style rooms, the genuine neighborhood location, and staff who actually care about your experience creates this comfortable middle ground between a business hotel and a boutique property. For couples especially, it hits that sweet spot where you have space to breathe, authentic local surroundings to explore, and easy access to everything Osaka has to offer.

To explore Osaka during the comfortable autumn months from September to November, tourists need early planning as this vibrant metropolis draws visitors eager to discover its rich merchant heritage and legendary takoyaki vendors.

• Frank from Netherlands – 19 June 2025 (9/10)

  Bedden waren goed, gezellige accommodatie

What could be improved: Het vinden van de accommodatie, adres komt niet overeen met Googlemaps

• Jessica from Australia – 12 April 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful place and made our stay excellent

• Ashleigh from Australia – 26 February 2025 (10/10)

We had 3 adults and a toddler. They're was plenty of space for the 4 of us and the 3 adults each had their own bed. It was walking distance to the train station and 7/11 (less than 5 minutes) and it was very easy to get to universal studios, which was the main reason for our stay. Everything was clean and well equipped. Overall we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others!

What could be improved: We personally had some issues accessing the keys and as it was close to midnight and we didn't have roaming on our phones it was difficult to reach the property managers. After some time we managed to get roaming on a phone and call them and they did find a solution for us but after an international flight, almost midnight, near zero temps and a very upset toddler, it was very stressful.

• Boyan from Germany – 26 October 2024 (10/10)

  Optimale Lage

What could be improved: Küche Geschirr und vor allem der Miniofen waren nicht sauber. Auf den Boden waren Haare von den Vorgängern.

• Cedric from France – 17 May 2024 (10/10)
