Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “b&” I had no idea how to even pronounce it, but once you’re standing in front of this place in Nihonbashi Higashi, it all makes sense. The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Osaka at all. You’re literally a stone’s throw from Tsutenkaku Tower (that’s what means, by the way), and I mean you can see that retro neon beacon from some of the upper floor windows. It’s not right in the thick of Shinsekai’s chaos, but close enough that you can stumble back after a night of kushikatsu and beer without getting lost in the maze of tiny streets.

The hotel itself is… well, it’s definitely a 3-star place, but honestly? It punches above its weight. The lobby has this sort of minimalist-meets-traditional Japanese vibe that doesn’t feel forced – you know what I mean, like they’re not trying too hard to be “authentically Japanese” for tourists. Check-in was surprisingly smooth, and the staff actually remembered my name the next morning, which doesn’t happen often at chain hotels. My room was on the fourth floor, and yeah, it’s compact (this is Japan after all), but everything has its place. The bed was firmer than what you’d get at a Western hotel, but in a good way – I actually slept better than I expected. The bathroom had one of those fancy toilet seats that do everything but your taxes, and the shower pressure was solid, which honestly makes or breaks a travel day for me.

What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood feel. In the morning, I grabbed coffee from this tiny place around the corner on the same block – turns out the hotel staff recommended it, and it became my daily ritual. You’re walking distance to Kuromon Ichiba Market (maybe 8-10 minutes if you don’t get distracted by all the street food), and the Nippombashi subway station is close enough that you’re never more than 20 minutes from anywhere you actually want to be in Osaka. The area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which was perfect since I was dealing with jet lag, but it never felt dead or sketchy. I mean, there’s always some activity with Tsutenkaku lighting up the night, but it’s more atmospheric than disruptive. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me – this isn’t luxury, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re spending your days exploring the city and just need a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t feel like every other generic hotel room you’ve ever stayed in.

  LOVED how spacious the hotel room was plenty of space for our luggage and to just chill and not feel so on top of each other!!

  The location was great and the facilities were amazing! Full cooking utensils available as well as a fridge/freezer. The cherry on top was the washing machine – with detergent provided!
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that I didn't like was the smell of the bathroom. It seems that either the drains or the water itself smells bad.

  The host is quick to respond and friendly, helping to answer all questions. The location is easily accessible, and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The station is nearby and convenient. There is a Lawson right at the corner of the metro. I will always drop by to grab some snacks and drinks before heading back in a 3-minute walk.

  What could be improved: I hope that there could be a small stool in the bathroom so that I can sit and wash comfortably. Also, it would be helpful to have some simple tools like scissors so that I can cut some tags.
