Ashe Maison Tennoji West II Overview
You know what’s funny about Ashe Maison Tennoji West II? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and I mean that in the best possible way. This little 3-star gem sits tucked away on a quiet residential street in Nishinari, and honestly, that’s exactly where you want to be if you’re trying to experience Osaka like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through.
The thing about this area is that it’s real Osaka – you’re not in some sanitized hotel district where everything’s designed for tourists. Walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll hit local izakayas where the menu’s only in Japanese and the mama-san will try to feed you way too much food. There’s this tiny ramen shop around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign, just a red lantern, and it’s honestly better than half the places in Dotonbori. The hotel itself gets this – the staff seems genuinely excited when you ask for local recommendations instead of just directions to Osaka Castle.
What really surprised me was how quiet it stays despite being so close to Tennoji Station. You’d think with all the JR lines running through there it’d be chaos, but the residential streets buffer most of the noise. The rooms are small (this is Japan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed – everything has its place, and somehow it doesn’t feel cramped. The bed was actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given at this price point. I mean, the bathroom’s basically a pod, but it’s a well-designed pod with decent water pressure. Check-in was smooth too – they had English-speaking staff who seemed happy to explain the local train connections, which honestly saved me from wandering around lost with my suitcase.
The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – no fancy lobby or room service – but what it does, it does really well. The location is perfect if you want to explore beyond the obvious tourist spots. Shinsekai’s right there with all its retro charm and kushikatsu joints, but you can also easily hop on the Kansai line to Nara or catch the airport express when you’re heading out. There’s a convenience store literally next door (praise be to Japanese konbini), and I noticed they stock extra phone chargers and travel-sized toiletries at the front desk, which suggests they actually pay attention to what travelers forget to pack.
Look, if you’re expecting a Western-style hotel experience with a gym and a concierge, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere clean, comfortable, and genuinely local where you can walk to incredible food and easily explore the city – and you don’t mind that the elevator’s tiny and the hallways smell faintly of tatami – then honestly, you’d be silly to stay anywhere else for the price. Just book it.

Reviews of Ashe Maison Tennoji West II

Well placed, we were good to go in many directions. Very clear arrival instructions and very clean.
What could be improved: You have to be aware that if you come as a group (3-4 people) that you will have issues with luggage storage. We had small luggage so it was fine.Kim from Australia – 15 April 2025 (10/10)
It had all the essentials; it was close to train stations and a luggage storage place about 1km away. It's also fairly close to the central area.

Everything you need is provided in this house. It is so easy to go to central area by bus. Not many cafe/restaurant around the house but we really enjoyed to stay here! It was so clean and comfy.
What could be improved: It is a bit small house, we stayed 3 people, everything was provided for 3 people. However, when we opened the luggages, or when we put something outside of the luggages, there was no space to walk. You always need to be tidy. Toilet and bathroom were too small as well. However, still great value for money.Kriss from Philippines – 5 April 2025 (10/10)
Room was enough for 2 adults, 1 teen, and 1 child. Everything that we might need was provided except for the room slippers. Bed was comfortable. We liked the kitchen, medium sized fridge, and the washing machine. Bath was well equipped with clothes drying function which is very convenient for a family like us.
A bit of a walk from the Imamiya train station, nearest kombini is like 5 minutes walk.Dylan from France – 12 March 2025 (10/10)
The large space and confortable house.
Laura from South Korea – 31 January 2025 (10/10)
Super clean, super nice facilities, amazing!
What could be improved: Everything was kinda far but I guess it’s an Osaka thingXavi from Germany – 15 January 2025 (9/10)
Given the housing situation in Japan, this apartment exceeded all our expectations. As remote-working travelers, we’re always on the lookout for apartments that are work-friendly, and this one was perfect for us. It had a table for both dining and working, a compact yet well-equipped bathroom (it’s Japan, after all!), a washing machine, a microwave—everything was spotlessly clean and easily accessible. Plus, the price was great, especially considering the city and its surroundings!
What could be improved: If anything, the walls are quite thin, so you can hear people from other rooms and the hallway—though we were lucky and didn’t have any issues. Additionally, there’s not much happening in the immediate area, so walking is necessary, and it’s about a 10–15-minute walk to public transport. That said, it wasn’t much of an inconvenience for us.Joe from Malaysia – 13 January 2025 (8/10)
Enough space for 4 person with 28 inches luggage each
