Apartment Hotel 11 Namba Minami 3 Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartment Hotel 11 Namba Minami 3, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked away on a quiet side street in Ebisu-honmachi, and you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. While everyone’s fighting for space in the chaos of central Namba, you’re actually in this surprisingly peaceful pocket that feels more like a residential neighborhood.
The thing about this place is that it gets the apartment-hotel concept right in a way that most don’t. I mean, you’ve got proper kitchen setups – not those sad little kitchenettes with a hot plate, but actual space to spread out if you want to grab ingredients from the Lawson down the street or hit up the local supermarket. The rooms are bigger than what you’d expect for Osaka, honestly, and there’s this lived-in quality that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re crashing at a friend’s place. The building itself is nothing fancy, but everything works, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the hallways actually smell clean, not like that weird hotel carpet smell you get sometimes.
What really sold me on the location was realizing I could walk to Nippombashi in about eight minutes, which puts you right in the middle of all the electronics and otaku stuff, but then you can also wander over to Kuromon Ichiba Market for proper street food without dealing with the tourist crowds at Dotonbori. Actually, speaking of Dotonbori, it’s close enough that you can easily stumble back after a night out, but far enough that you’re not hearing drunk salarymen singing karaoke at 2 AM. The train connections are solid too – Nippombashi Station is right there, and you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without too much hassle. I stayed here during Golden Week (probably not the smartest timing, but whatever), and even when the main tourist areas were absolutely packed, this little corner stayed relatively sane. The front desk staff seemed genuinely surprised to see foreign guests sometimes, which was kind of charming in its own way – they were super helpful, just not overly rehearsed like at the big chain hotels. One small thing that bugged me was that the walls are a bit thin, so if you get stuck next to a loud neighbor, you’ll know about it, but most of the time it was pretty quiet.

I liked the feel of modern apartment. It is so close to the subway line, only one stop from Namba station (which is the heart of Dotonburi). We didn't cook at all but if you do there is one pot, one pan, one knife, and dinnerware for four. There is no condiments/oils/etc–you'll need to buy your own. I hit the supermarket which the closest is about 750m away (about 10 mins walk).
There is balcony where you can hang clothes, or do it in the bathroom.
Speaking of bathroom, I love it. The shower area is Japanese style although you can always shower in side the tub area. I especially love the heating/ventilation (which can also be useful for drying clothes). There is a washer only but with the balcony and the heated air setting for the shower, you can get it dry!
We got the apartment for four persons which consists of two queen/full beds. You can slide them together.
I did not interact with anyone other than through the booking.com app when I couldn't open the door (TIP: turn the key clockwise to open the door until it clicks, then back to vertical to remove the key). Once you know that is unlock position, pull outward HARD on the handle as the door is heavy and there is some suction like force keeping it closed! ). Oh, back on the communication, they are VERY fast–within 10 mins–to respond. Another time, I somehow missed seeing the kitchen fan switch but they send a snapshot indicating where the switch is.
What could be improved: One slow elevator covering up to 15 floors.
Internet free wifi was spotty and slow.R from Australia – 23 April 2025 (8/10)
It was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, location was centric with access to 2 train lines (metro and train) and host was very responsive.
What could be improved: Nothing
