This place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. You’re basically staying in Nippombashi, which means you’re a literal two-minute walk from Kuromon Ichiba Market (hence the name, I guess), and I mean that – I timed it because I’m weird like that. The location is actually incredible if you want to be in the thick of things without paying Dotonbori prices.

The building itself is one of those newer apartment-style setups that’s become popular in Osaka, and you know what struck me immediately? How quiet it was inside despite being surrounded by all the market activity. The rooms are proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge shoved in the corner – we’re talking actual kitchenettes with real cooking space, which was a lifesaver since the market downstairs has all this amazing fresh stuff you can actually cook with. The whole place feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying in a hotel, if that makes sense. I loved that the washing machine was full-sized (not one of those tiny combo units that don’t really work), and the bathroom had a proper Japanese soaking tub. Small thing, but the water pressure was fantastic – sometimes these older neighborhoods can be hit or miss with that.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits right in this perfect spot where you’ve got the energy of the market scene, but you’re also walking distance to Sumiyoshi Taisha if you want some peace, and the Takoyaki Museum is practically next door. The staff – well, I mainly dealt with one guy who spoke decent English and seemed to actually care about helping rather than just checking boxes. Check-in was smooth, none of that bureaucratic nonsense some places put you through. I will say the elevator is pretty small, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, that might be slightly annoying, but honestly that’s most buildings in this area. The 9.1 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just doing everything really well. You get the authentic neighborhood feel without sacrificing comfort, and in Osaka, that balance is harder to find than you’d think. Plus, and this might sound silly, but being able to grab fresh fish for breakfast downstairs and cook it in your actual kitchen? That’s the kind of travel experience you remember.

Osaka travel planning should be done early, especially during peak hanami season when the city hosts internationally celebrated festivals and matsuri celebrations in Tennoji and other iconic cultural districts.

  It was an easy walk to get to from the train (5 minutes from Nippombashi station or 10 mins from Namba station). Easy self check in process. Nice and clean, had washing machine and drying area for clothes in the bathroom.

  Since it’s a newly opened hotel, the rooms are very clean! The decor is unique, and you can also cook for yourself! It’s also close to various attractions!

  It was clean. The shower was good. Barely enough space to open and place our luggage.
  
  What could be improved: Though its in Dotonburi, it still a considerable walk to the subway. I know Japan is safe, but the walk can be scary in the late evening. The washer/dryer did not dry very well. No instructions given. Basically had to take my clothes to the laundry station outside and down the street to dry them. I thought the sitting table took up too much space. Did not use the kitchen facilities, but the vent over the stove is consistenly on. Same as the vent for the shower, consistently on.
