Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be straight with you about Apartment Hotel 11 Dotonbori 2 – the name’s a mouthful, but this place actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. When I first rolled up to Shimanouchi with my suitcase, I was honestly expecting another cramped business hotel situation. Instead, you’ve got these proper apartment-style rooms that feel like someone actually lives there, not just passes through for a night.

The location is what really sold me though. You’re literally a two-minute walk from all the Dotonbori madness – you know, the neon signs, the takoyaki stands, tourists taking selfies with that giant mechanical crab. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being on Shimanouchi means you can duck out of the chaos whenever you need to breathe. I mean, Dotonbori at 11 PM is… well, it’s a lot. Having a quiet street to retreat to saved my sanity more than once. Plus, you’re close enough to Nippombashi that grabbing actual groceries (not just convenience store onigiri) becomes totally doable – there’s a decent supermarket about five minutes south if you want to use that little kitchenette.

Speaking of the rooms, they’ve got this lived-in feeling that I wasn’t expecting from a 3-star place. The kitchenette actually has everything you need, not just a sad mini-fridge and a kettle. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, honestly, the nearby coffee shops don’t open until like 8 AM and I’m usually up way earlier thanks to jet lag. The beds are firm in that Japanese way – took me a night to adjust, but then I slept better than I had in weeks. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night. I was worried about street noise since you’re so close to the action, but the windows actually do their job. You might catch some late-night chatter from people heading home, but it’s more like white noise than anything disruptive. The check-in process was smooth too – staff spoke enough English to handle the basics, and they had this whole tablet system set up that made everything pretty painless. Only minor gripe? The elevator’s tiny and slow, so if you’re hauling big luggage, maybe pack light or be patient. But that 8.5 rating makes sense when you add it all up – you’re getting apartment comfort with hotel convenience, right in the heart of one of Osaka’s best neighborhoods, without paying those crazy Dotonbori hotel prices. For what you get, it’s honestly a pretty solid deal.

Reviews

  • Madeleine from Australia – 12 June 2025 (7/10)

The accomodation had enough for a 4 night stay.

What could be improved: It had mostly everything we needed, however was an odd set up. The bed situation was nice and comfortable. Although, there was not much space to comfortably leave our bags. The bathroom was also not ideal. The facilities were small and in an odd set up. The shower was cold and not comfortable. It would have been nice to have English instructions for the washing machine and also a decent place for a clothes to dry which there was not.

  • Alvin from United Arab Emirates – 23 May 2025 (9/10)

It's 1 km away from GlicoMan sign but much quieter. The apartment has everything you need to survive and refills for everything is available in the 1st floor. The room was clean and well maintained.

What could be improved: Cant think of any.

  • Sajjid from India – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

property is good rooms are clean location is also ok 10-15 min walk to dotonbori.

What could be improved: have to put at least reception for working hours.

  • Saaghi from Australia – 21 May 2025 (7/10)

    Clean and spacious

What could be improved: We booked a family suite because we were two families (2 adults + 2 kids & 2 adults)
And the description for the rooms when we booked was “2 double beds and 2 single beds” which we assumed was a quad + a double rooms connected. Turns out it was 2 triple rooms which was not mentioned anywhere. This was a huge inconvenience and did not suit us and the family with the kids had to book another hotel.

  • Dennis from New Zealand – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

Off noisy street and spacious room size, which is perfect for our families & kids love it so much! Only walk distance to Main Street, metro stations and convenience store is nearby – we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Megan from New Zealand – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

Nice and clean room. Liked that it has cooking facilities.

    What could be improved: –

  • Violet from Singapore – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

Suitable for family stay and nearby close to restaurants and shopping.

What could be improved: Quite long walking distance from subway, we align from Sinsaibashi subway, about 15 mins on foot.

  • Maryanne from Australia – 9 May 2025 (8/10)

Location was great. Close to everything but in a quiet location. Access to enter lobby and room was good.
Big enough for 3 people plus suitcases

What could be improved: There could have been more towels. 3 people for 4nighta and only 1 towel each.. towels downstairs were not filled up for 2 days. Not enough cutlery or kitchenware to use. No pots and pans but a stove is there.

  • Enelio from Estonia – 8 May 2025 (8/10)

Facilities were great, especially the in room laundry and we felt right at home.

What could be improved: At night between midnight and 2am almost every night there was shouting on the street (and a racist incident one night), that disrupted our sleep.

  • Christina from New Zealand – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

Cleanliness, complete facilities like washing machine. There is no staff but the customer service responds quickly which is great.

What could be improved: A bit of a long walk to train station but it is a leisure walk passing by restaurants and convenience stores so it's all good
