Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of business hotels in Osaka, and honestly? The APA Hotel Shin Osaka Ekimae surprised me in the best way possible. You know how some places just feel right the moment you walk in? This is one of those spots. It’s tucked right there on Higashinakajima street, which sounds complicated but actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Shin-Osaka Station, and I mean literally, not travel-website literally.

The thing about this place is it gets the basics so right that you almost forget it’s a 3-star hotel. The rooms are compact (this is Japan, after all), but they’ve clearly thought about how real people use hotel rooms. The bed is actually comfortable – not just “good enough for one night” comfortable, but the kind where you might hit snooze an extra time. And the shower? Well, let’s just say I’ve had worse water pressure in hotels that cost three times as much. The front desk staff switches between Japanese and English pretty seamlessly, which saved me from my usual embarrassing attempts at pronunciation. Check-in was smooth even when I showed up at that awkward 2 PM time when half the city seems to be doing the same thing.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. Yeah, you’re close to the shinkansen – which is clutch if you’re doing the Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka circuit – but you’re also right in this little pocket where actual Osaka life happens. There’s a Family Mart downstairs (essential for late-night snacks and morning coffee), but walk two blocks and you’ll find this whole strip of izakayas and ramen shops that clearly cater to locals, not tourists. The morning sounds aren’t the usual hotel quiet or city chaos – just the gentle hum of people heading to work and the occasional train announcement in the distance. I actually found myself looking forward to that sound by day three. Sure, if you’re the type who needs a concierge and room service until midnight, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t feel like every other hotel room you’ve ever stayed in, and you appreciate being where the city actually lives and breathes? The APA Shin Osaka Ekimae gets it right.

  Excellent hotel very close to Shin-Osaka Station East Exit. Comfortable room with very good breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the public bath area.

  Good location near Shin Osaka station. The room was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable. The tv had a cast function.

  very close to Shin-Osaka station, so this hotel is an excellent choice if you plan to make a lot of trips in and outside Osaka. Very friendly staff, and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms are a bit small, but clean and comfortable. All in all, a great experience and I will come back for sure!

  Convenient location close to Shin Osaka Station. No complaints about our room either. It was good that for such a small space, we were able to make use of the luggage storage space under our bed.
