APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower Overview
Honestly, when I first walked into the APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s a 3-star place in the heart of Osaka’s business district, so I figured it’d be pretty standard. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe that feels way more upscale than the star rating suggests, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions like at some chain hotels).
The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the tourist chaos of Dotonbori every single day. You’re literally steps from Hommachi Station – and I’m talking like a two-minute walk, not the “short walk” that sometimes means fifteen minutes with luggage. The Midosuji line runs right through here, so getting to Namba takes maybe ten minutes, and you can hit Umeda in about the same time. What I really loved though was the neighborhood itself – there’s this great little izakaya called Torikizoku just around the corner on Minamihonmachi street that locals actually go to, plus a 7-Eleven literally next door for those late-night snack runs (trust me, you’ll need it).
The rooms are compact – this is Japan, so no surprises there – but they’re smartly designed with everything you actually need. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the bathroom, while small, had one of those deep Japanese soaking tubs that’s perfect after walking around the city all day. I stayed on the 15th floor and could see straight down Midosuji Boulevard, which looks pretty spectacular at night with all the neon reflecting off the wet streets (it rained two out of my four nights there). The walls are thick enough that street noise isn’t really an issue, though you might catch some train sounds if you’re a light sleeper – personally, I found it kind of soothing. One thing that really stood out was how clean everything was, like obsessively clean in that way Japanese hotels do so well. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not luxury, it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring Osaka anyway and just want a reliable, well-located base that won’t break the bank, this place hits the sweet spot.
Travelers should plan their Osaka visit at least two months ahead for major events like Tenjin Matsuri and Danjiri festivals, ensuring the best experiences and prime access to popular districts and culinary hotspots.

Reviews of APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower
Kristy from Australia – 11 June 2025 (7/10)
Great location. Close to train station and walking distance to Dotonbori.
What could be improved: We booked specifically for the pool which was unavailable at the time.Victoria from Australia – 10 June 2025 (8/10)
All APA hotel rooms are small, just like most others in Japan. If you set this expectation, then with everything else you will be happy. Extremely clean, all the little extras like razors, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste etc. Beds were comfortable and the location was right above Hommachi station making it easy to geet around. It is also walking distance to Triangle park and America Mura.
There are lots of 7Eleven's and family marts nearby.
They also had an indoor and outdoor onsen and free yukata's to wear when wondering around the hotel. There was also an 'outdoor swimming pool' which is a enlcosed courtyard stule swimming pool.
What could be improved: The actual Hommachi area is pretty grey and drab. I would probably stay elsewhere based on the location (not the hotel).Tom from United States – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
Great location. Very easy to access the subway (Hommachi exit 18). Good food options nearby. The place looks and feels very nice.
What could be improved: Sometimes the elevator queues could get very long. But I guess part of that may be due to high demand from the world expo.Stephen from Japan – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
Very convenient location for going to Osaka Expo 25. Excellent place to relax.
What could be improved: Was over crowded because of expo. 15 min wait for the elevator.Kumar from Japan – 5 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Nothing in particularRonald from United States – 3 June 2025 (9/10)
Breakfast was excellent, with great variety everyday. The location was very convenient with the station and family mart on site.
What could be improved: Rooms are cramped, but to be expected in Japan. But functionality and cleanliness was top notch.Carole from United Kingdom – 31 May 2025 (8/10)
Location excellent entrance to train station right next to hotel. Excellent choice for breakfast
What could be improved: Due to it's excellent location hotel got very busy at times & had to queue for lift however the staff did manage it very wellDennis from Netherlands – 31 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location, sits on top of two major metro lines, making it very easy to get to popular places. Walking distance away from the shopping street leading to Dotonbori.
Hotel itself is great, very friendly staff. The room was decently sized and clean.
What could be improved: The bathroom was a bit small, but it was fine for me.Antonio from Italy – 28 May 2025 (9/10)
Very good position.
What could be improved: Check in has been too longTamara from United States – 23 May 2025 (7/10)
The location is great. The subway elevator is next door to the hotel.
What could be improved: The rooms are too tiny. We were two people inthe room and didn’t have enough space to open the luggage’s.
