APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower, you immediately notice how it commands attention in Osaka’s business district. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Chuo-ku, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The tower design gives it a modern edge that stands out among the surrounding office buildings, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that this isn’t your typical budget business hotel.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally steps away from Hommachi Station, which means the entire city becomes accessible without any hassle. The Midosuji line runs right through here, so getting to Dotonbori, Osaka Castle, or even out to Universal Studios is straightforward. What’s really clever is how they’ve positioned themselves in this business district that transforms completely after work hours. During the day, it’s all suited salarymen rushing around, but evenings bring a quieter, more authentic side of the city that most tourists never experience.

The Room Experience

The room itself follows APA’s signature compact-but-efficient design philosophy. You know what surprised me? Despite the smaller footprint, everything feels thoughtfully placed — there’s actually space to open your suitcase without playing furniture Tetris. The beds are notably comfortable for this price range, and the air conditioning works like a dream (crucial during Osaka’s humid summers). The windows offer decent city views, especially if you snag one of the higher floors facing the main street.

Amenities That Actually Matter

The open-air bath on the upper floor is honestly the hotel’s secret weapon — after a long day of temple-hopping and street food adventures, soaking while looking out over the city lights hits differently. There’s also a public bath if you want the full Japanese experience without the outdoor element. Parking is available on-site, which is genuinely rare and valuable in this part of town. The breakfast buffet covers all the basics with a mix of Western and Japanese options, though don’t expect anything too elaborate — it’s fuel for your day, not a destination meal.

Why Guests Love It

The location scores speak for themselves — couples especially seem to appreciate how easy it makes exploring the city together. You’re close enough to the action but removed from the tourist chaos of areas like Namba. The staff maintains that efficient, helpful Japanese service standard, and the building feels secure and well-maintained. For the price point, you’re getting solid value in a city where accommodation costs can spiral quickly. It’s the kind of place that works whether you’re here for business meetings or temple visits — practical, comfortable, and positioned perfectly for whatever brings you to Osaka.

Travelers should plan their Osaka visit at least two months ahead for major events like Tenjin Matsuri and Danjiri festivals, ensuring the best experiences and prime access to popular districts and culinary hotspots.

Reviews of APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower

  • Kristy from Australia – 11 June 2025 (7/10)

Great location. Close to train station and walking distance to Dotonbori.

What could be improved: We booked specifically for the pool which was unavailable at the time.

  • Victoria from Australia – 10 June 2025 (8/10)

All APA hotel rooms are small, just like most others in Japan. If you set this expectation, then with everything else you will be happy. Extremely clean, all the little extras like razors, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste etc. Beds were comfortable and the location was right above Hommachi station making it easy to geet around. It is also walking distance to Triangle park and America Mura.
There are lots of 7Eleven's and family marts nearby.
They also had an indoor and outdoor onsen and free yukata's to wear when wondering around the hotel. There was also an 'outdoor swimming pool' which is a enlcosed courtyard stule swimming pool.

What could be improved: The actual Hommachi area is pretty grey and drab. I would probably stay elsewhere based on the location (not the hotel).

  • Tom from United States – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Great location. Very easy to access the subway (Hommachi exit 18). Good food options nearby. The place looks and feels very nice.

What could be improved: Sometimes the elevator queues could get very long. But I guess part of that may be due to high demand from the world expo.

  • Stephen from Japan – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Very convenient location for going to Osaka Expo 25. Excellent place to relax.

What could be improved: Was over crowded because of expo. 15 min wait for the elevator.

  • Kumar from Japan – 5 June 2025 (9/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Nothing in particular

  • Ronald from United States – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

Breakfast was excellent, with great variety everyday. The location was very convenient with the station and family mart on site.

What could be improved: Rooms are cramped, but to be expected in Japan. But functionality and cleanliness was top notch.

  • Carole from United Kingdom – 31 May 2025 (8/10)

Location excellent entrance to train station right next to hotel. Excellent choice for breakfast

What could be improved: Due to it's excellent location hotel got very busy at times & had to queue for lift however the staff did manage it very well

  • Dennis from Netherlands – 31 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location, sits on top of two major metro lines, making it very easy to get to popular places. Walking distance away from the shopping street leading to Dotonbori.

Hotel itself is great, very friendly staff. The room was decently sized and clean.

What could be improved: The bathroom was a bit small, but it was fine for me.

  • Antonio from Italy – 28 May 2025 (9/10)

    Very good position.

What could be improved: Check in has been too long

  • Tamara from United States – 23 May 2025 (7/10)

The location is great. The subway elevator is next door to the hotel.

What could be improved: The rooms are too tiny. We were two people inthe room and didn’t have enough space to open the luggage’s.
