Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from the APA Hotel Osaka Temmabashi Ekimae when I first walked up to it – I mean, it’s tucked into this pretty typical urban corner in Chuo ward, and honestly, most business hotels in Osaka kind of blend together. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The location is genuinely fantastic if you want to feel like you’re staying where locals actually live and work, rather than in some touristy bubble. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Temmabashi Station, which connects you to both the Keihan Main Line and the subway – I found myself hopping over to Kyoto on a whim one afternoon, and getting to Osaka Castle (which you can actually see from some of the higher floors) takes maybe ten minutes on foot.

The rooms are compact, sure, but they’re designed so thoughtfully that you don’t feel cramped. I stayed in one of their standard singles, and everything just… works. The bed was surprisingly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and the bathroom, while tiny, had this amazing shower with water pressure that actually woke me up in the morning. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right in the middle of the city. The staff at the front desk spoke decent English and were genuinely helpful when I needed directions to this hole-in-the-wall ramen place in Dotonbori (which, by the way, is only about 15 minutes away by train). The breakfast situation is pretty standard APA fare – nothing fancy, but decent coffee and enough to get you going.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: it sits right in this neighborhood where you’ve got actual Osaka life happening around you. There’s a Family Mart literally next door for those late-night snack runs, and if you walk just a few blocks toward the river, you’ll find these little izakayas and local spots that most tourists never stumble across. I spent one evening just wandering around Tanimachi, grabbing beers at different places, and it felt like I was getting a real slice of the city. The hotel’s not trying to be something it’s not – it’s clean, efficient, and positioned perfectly for exploring both the traditional side of Osaka and the more modern attractions. For the price point, especially considering that 8.4 rating reflects what other travelers have experienced, you’re getting solid value. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly if I wanted to explore more of central Osaka without dealing with the crowds and inflated prices you get closer to the main tourist drags.

    Beautiful and serene hotel space

  • Margaret from United States – 30 May 2025 (9/10)

The bed was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We lost an earbud after checkout, and they had already found it and set it aside for us to pick up before we came back!

What could be improved: There isn't too much to do directly around the hotel but you are very close to Osaka Castle and a metro station!

  • Fiona from Australia – 30 May 2025 (9/10)

Love the onsen, staff are wonderful

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Mark from Australia – 21 May 2025 (7/10)

Modern feel and look. Close to station.

What could be improved: Washing machines don’t wash clothes. They all came out just as dirty as they went in. Even out in own powder and that didn’t help. Clothes dryer dont dry clothes enough. Had to hang clothes in bedroom.

  • Leslie from United Kingdom – 15 May 2025 (8/10)

Good location for subway. Near Osaka Castle. Spotlessly clean like all hotels in Japan.

What could be improved: My room had no window. Not ideal when trying to deal with jet lag. It was stated when booking though, so not the hotels fault.

  • Natascha from Netherlands – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

Good value for money. Bed was good, location great. Nice onsen!

    What could be improved: –

  • Harinakshi from India – 30 April 2025 (8/10)

    Helpful staff
    Decent breakfast
    Good location
    Laundry area
3 min walk to Temmabashi metro
20 min walk to Osaka castle

What could be improved: Rooms are very small , a bit crammed.

  • Vanessa from Germany – 29 April 2025 (9/10)

A true all-time classic – this hotel chain delivers consistent comfort across all its locations. The rooms are similar everywhere: clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. The location was excellent, making it a convenient base for exploring the area.

What could be improved: We had nothing to complain about, except that the room was a bit short on space. Otherwise, a reliable and pleasant stay!

  • Anna from Austria – 28 April 2025 (9/10)

The room was practical and clean. The location was great. The breakfast buffet was great and had many options.

  • Aurelija from Belgium – 21 April 2025 (8/10)

Despite hotel room being small, it had many smart storage solutions such as lifted bed with space under to store your luggages. Many hangers & hooks in the bathroom & similar.

Breakfast was supplied with many Japanese dishes.

    Super efficient check out

What could be improved: Our window was to the street and some nights it got rather noisy. Except of that, we had no issues with any noises coming from the neighbouring rooms or the hallway,

Most of the mornings we had to line up for the breakfast which was something very unusual for us.
