You know what struck me first about APA Hotel Osaka Temma? It’s actually tucked away in this really authentic part of Kita-ku that most tourists never see. I mean, you’re not in the thick of Dotonbori madness here – instead, you’re in Doushin, which honestly feels more like where actual Osakans live and work. The building itself is classic APA style (if you’ve stayed at one, you know what I’m talking about – compact but surprisingly functional), and while it’s a solid 3-star spot, they’ve clearly put thought into the details that matter.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. You’re about a 7-minute walk from Temma Station, which connects you to the Sakaisuji Line – super handy for getting to Namba or Umeda without dealing with the tourist crowds on every train. But here’s the thing I really loved: step outside and you’re surrounded by these tiny izakayas and family-run restaurants that don’t even have English menus. There’s this incredible takoyaki stand literally around the corner that locals line up for around 6 PM (trust me on this one). The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which means you’ll actually sleep well – something you can’t always count on in central Osaka.

The rooms are typical APA compact, but they’ve maximized every inch intelligently. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and I appreciated that the air conditioning actually works properly (it gets muggy in Osaka, especially in summer). Check-in was smooth, though the front desk staff’s English is pretty basic – but honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying somewhere that caters more to Japanese business travelers than tourists. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator can get slow during morning rush, but that’s minor. The real win here is the value – you’re getting a clean, comfortable base in a genuinely local area for a fraction of what you’d pay closer to the main tourist zones. Plus, if you want to hit the famous spots, you’re still just 15 minutes by train to anywhere that matters. It’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’re experiencing a bit of real Osaka life, not just the Instagram version.

  Surprisingly comfy stay, staff were all welcoming and polite. Decent noise isolation from the train (some rooms face the tracks). I loved the blackout shutter, complete darkness at night!

  A very efficiently designed single room. The onsen was adequate, the room was great, and the ability to stream to the TV was useful.

  I loved how efficient the staff were and how helpful with silly tourist questions. The bed was beyond comfortable and all my needs were met. The location is perfect, just slightly out of the main city center made it less busy, more friendly and it felt like coming home after work each day. The hotel is only 6 minutes from the main train station which made travel very easy

  We had a fantastic stay at APA Hotel Osaka Temma. The hotel was in a fantastic location, a short walk away from both Temma station and Ogimachi station which made it very easy to get to wherever we needed to go. It is also conveniently located a short walk from seven eleven, family mart, Don Quijote and a drug store. Kema Sakuranomiya Park is right across the road which meant we didn’t have to travel far to see the most beautiful cherry blossoms right along the water. Only an hour by train to Kyoto made it easy to do day trips.

  breakfast is good enough to fill you up but minus points for having too few choices of vegetable. complete bathroom amenities in the room, TV, wifi, fridge that stays powered 24 hours, kettle, hair dryer. comfortable bed. free luggage storage room. we enjoyed the summer Osaka festival which was held in the area then walk back to hotel.
  
  What could be improved: 1 small room saves electricity, but in this room we needed the doorway space to open 2 suitcases fully flat on the floor, plus a short bed if you're tall. 2. location, it's quite a long walk for tourists comparing to hotels in other locations in town, especially during summer heat from station to hotel many times a day.(JR Temma or Ogimachi station depends on your train pass). 3 check in time is 3pm sharp.
