You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in Chiyozaki, but Alla Scuderia Bijou Suites completely caught me off guard. The name sounds fancy – almost pretentious, honestly – but when you walk in, it’s got this understated elegance that feels authentic rather than trying too hard. The lobby has this warm, boutique hotel vibe with darker wood tones and subtle lighting that immediately makes you forget you’re in a business district.

The suites themselves are where this place really shines, and I mean actually shines – not just marketing speak. Mine had this little kitchenette that was way more functional than I expected, complete with proper glassware and decent coffee (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in Japan). The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for Osaka standards, with one of those deep soaking tubs that you don’t usually find outside of ryokans. What struck me most was the attention to small details – the bedside lighting was perfectly positioned for reading, the blackout curtains actually worked (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), and there were enough outlets that I didn’t have to choose between charging my phone and using my laptop.

Location-wise, you’re in Nishi-ku, which means you’re close enough to the action without being in the thick of tourist chaos. Dotombori is maybe a 15-minute walk, but honestly, I found myself loving the quieter streets around the hotel more. There’s this little convenience store about two blocks down that stays open late, and the area has that residential Osaka feel where you see actual locals going about their daily routines. The Chiyozaki area isn’t exactly a food destination, but you’re close enough to some excellent spots – there’s a killer ramen place about ten minutes toward the river that locals seem to frequent. Parking can be tight around here (like everywhere in Osaka), but the hotel staff helped coordinate street parking when I needed it. The 9 rating makes perfect sense once you factor in the staff – they’re genuinely helpful without being overly formal, and a couple of them spoke solid English, which was appreciated. This isn’t a place that’s trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it nails what it’s going for: a comfortable, well-designed space that feels more like a temporary home than a generic hotel room.

  Really nice self contained apartment. With small kitchen and also washing machine. Close to subway. Good for a family.
