You know what struck me first about AB Hotel Osaka Sakaisuji Hommachi? It’s actually tucked away on this quieter stretch of Honmachi street where you’re not constantly dodging salarymen rushing to catch trains. I mean, don’t get me wrong – you’re still in the thick of Osaka’s business district, but there’s something almost residential about this particular block that I really appreciated after spending days in the chaos around Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi.

The hotel itself is one of those efficient Japanese operations that just… works. The lobby’s compact but bright, with that clean, minimalist vibe that somehow feels both modern and understated. Check-in was smooth – the staff spoke decent English, which honestly saved me some embarrassing Google Translate moments. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star in Osaka: not huge, but cleverly designed so nothing feels cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those amazing Japanese toilets that makes you question why the rest of the world hasn’t figured this out yet. What I really loved was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the main drags that you can actually sleep without earplugs.

Here’s the thing that makes this place special though – the location is absolutely perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Osaka rather than just visiting it. There’s this incredible ramen shop literally two blocks away on Sakaisuji that I stumbled across on my second night, and I ended up going back three more times. The Hommachi subway station is maybe a five-minute walk, so you can zip over to Osaka Castle in the morning and be in Namba for dinner without any hassle. Plus – and this is something I only figured out on day three – you’re walking distance from some of the city’s best coffee shops that most tourists never find because they’re buried in these narrow side streets. The neighborhood has this great morning energy too, with locals grabbing breakfast from convenience stores and the occasional food cart setting up near the station. I actually found myself just wandering around before heading out for the day because there’s always something interesting happening. The 7.9 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers exactly what you need: clean, comfortable, well-located, and reasonably priced. If you’re the type who wants to explore Osaka like someone who actually lives there, rather than hitting every tourist spot and calling it a day, this place gets it right.

  非常ベルが鳴り避難から部屋に戻った後消防と警察が来た。フロントに電話したが出ず，フロントに行くと夜中は対応してませんと言われた。落ち着かず部屋に戻ることが出来なかった。非常時くらい緊急対応はするべきだと思った。

  28日のチェックイン時間から居たフロントの女性係員（40代くらい）の質が低くて気分が悪くなりました。
  朝食を利用するかしないかの確認も無く、勝手に追加オプションで付けるのはどうなんですか？お金を払うのは客です、確認くらいしてください。
  飲食店や小売業の従業員とは違うのだから、フロントで対応するならそれなりの接客対応をした方が良いですよ。
  無くしものをして探している際に、女性フロント係員から言われた一言が『（備品に）触らないでください』でした。困っている客が居たら、せめてまずは『いかがいたしましたか？』を言えるようにしましょうね。接客の基本です。
  向いては居ないので早期転職をおすすめいたします。
  ②館内の温度調節
  この真夏に、クーラーをつけない階に客を入れないでください。熱中症になった際に責任をとる羽目になるのはホテル側ですよ。風呂場の温度が常時27度なのも暑すぎます。寮じゃあるまいし、温度管理はちゃんとしてください。寮より質の低い管理です。
