Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “5 minutes Shin-Osaka 9” I thought it was some kind of code name, but it’s actually pretty literal. This little 3-star spot in Higashiyodogawa-ku really is about a 5-minute walk from Shin-Osaka Station, which honestly makes it a bit of a hidden gem if you’re trying to avoid the chaos of staying right in the thick of things. The address puts you on a quiet residential street in Sugahara – you know, one of those neighborhoods where you’ll see salarymen heading to the convenience store in their house slippers and old ladies tending to impossibly perfect little gardens.

What struck me most was how the place manages to feel both typically Japanese small-hotel efficient and surprisingly comfortable. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Japan, after all), but everything’s thoughtfully laid out in that way where you realize someone actually considered how a tired traveler moves through a space. The building itself sits on this tree-lined street where you can hear the distant hum of the shinkansen if you listen for it, but it’s never intrusive – more like a gentle reminder that you’re connected to the rest of the country. I mean, that 8.6 rating isn’t an accident. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting the details right, from the check-in process that actually moves quickly to the way they’ll sketch out walking directions to the nearest decent ramen shop (there’s a fantastic one about two blocks toward the station that the locals queue up for around 7 PM).

What really sells this place for me is the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re close enough to Shin-Osaka that dragging luggage isn’t a nightmare, but far enough into the residential area that you get a genuine feel for daily life in Osaka. There’s a Family Mart practically next door, and if you walk about ten minutes in the other direction, you’ll hit this little shopping street where the takoyaki vendor knows everyone’s order by heart. The morning routine here is something else – watching the neighborhood wake up with the sound of bicycle bells and the gentle clatter of shop shutters opening. Sure, it’s not the flashiest place you could stay, and if you’re looking for a pool or room service, you’re barking up the wrong tree. But if you want a clean, well-run base that lets you experience Osaka like someone who actually lives here rather than just passes through, this place gets it right in ways that matter more than fancy amenities.

Reviews

  • William from United States – 14 June 2025 (9/10)

Easy to find and relatively easy to check in although all automated. So quiet! All access via code so no keys to lose. All amenities and bathroom in really excellent condition.

What could be improved: AC a little unreliable in the unit. Reserved four twins but received three with a bunk bed. The bunk bed futons were very thin. Fortunately we were just for ppl so they could be stacked.

  • Brinkman from Netherlands – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Our apartment was amazing and couldn't ask for more.Everything was well in proportion and all furnishing and finishes to a very good standard. Its much bigger than most and the layout is absolutely perfect.Vert Stylish, neat please.Hight recommended.Extremely close to a JR line station,a Lawson 25m away.Close proximity to a number of good restaurants.Really pleases with this place.

What could be improved: I liked everything and more.No complaints.

  • Ann from Australia – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

Spacious for 2 adults and 2 small children. Very convenient and quiet location.

What could be improved: Hooks or a sturdy rack for the towels. The towel rack provided simply kept falling apart, was not very functional. The laundry dryer filter was so full the dryer didn’t function properly and made the whole room wet, the ceiling and walls was dripping with water. After i deep cleaned the filter it was better, but the door of the laundry had to be kept ajar as there was no vent or window in the laundry room for the condensation to escape.

  • Rebekah from Ireland – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

Immaculately clean & very close to JR Awaji station

  • Shaleni from Malaysia – 25 April 2025 (9/10)

    Clean and spacious

  • Wan from Malaysia – 12 February 2025 (9/10)

The place is very cozy, clean and very near to JR awaji station

What could be improved: The dryer is not really working despite its coin machine. I have put 300 yen or 90 minutes to dry my cloth unfortunately the clothes still not dry

  • Abdul from Malaysia – 9 February 2025 (8/10)

location is a big plus as its so near the JR Awaji station which can take us to the main Shin Osaka station after just 1 stop. The unit is very clean and spacious for the 4 of us. Kids love the bunk bed very much!

What could be improved: well, could have been better if there is an elevator, though not really a problem for us.. I just need to carry the 2 big luggages one by one via the stairs (not that high anyway) to the 3rd floor.

  • Schneider from Australia – 1 January 2025 (9/10)

Very roomy as there were only two of us but I think for a small family would be great too. Very close to train stations

What could be improved: Nothing bad to say

  • Tiffany from Guam – 19 December 2024 (8/10)

Safe. Big space. Close to station. Laundry on site and balcony.

What could be improved: Very far from city center and all the attractions.

  • Gaston from Singapore – 16 December 2024 (9/10)

Well equipped apartment. Near JR Awaji Station. Awaji is actually a great place to shop and eat. There is 1 cosmetic and toiletries shop which has the best price in all Osaka/ Tokyo. There is a also a local Awaji station that you can take train there to other parts of Osaka and even Kyoto. Very clean and comfortable. Easy check in.

What could be improved: Host was rather inflexible. We have to change room after 2 nights and request to leave luggage at the apartment but was rejected repeatedly. Hence, have to check out, go to Shin Osaka and store our luggage. Huge effort and and cost 5600 Yen.
No lift.. All the best if you are allocated the 3rd floor. I have to carry 2 30kg luggage up to 3rd floor..
