5 minutes Shin-Osaka 3 Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “5 minutes Shin-Osaka 3” I thought it was some kind of placeholder name that never got updated. But you know what? It’s actually pretty accurate. This little three-star spot really is about five minutes from Shin-Osaka Station if you walk at a decent pace, and honestly, that’s probably the most important thing you need to know about it.
The hotel sits in Higashiawaji, which isn’t exactly the tourist heart of Osaka – I mean, you’re not going to stumble out your door into Dotonbori or anything. But here’s the thing that surprised me: the neighborhood has this quiet, residential feel that’s kind of refreshing after dealing with the chaos of central Osaka. There’s a Family Mart literally around the corner (essential for late-night snack runs), and you’ll find a couple of decent ramen joints within walking distance that clearly cater to locals rather than tourists. The morning sounds are mostly just people heading to work and the occasional delivery truck, which beats the hell out of being woken up by drunk salarymen singing karaoke at 3 AM.
What really works about this place is that it nails the basics without trying to be fancy. The rooms are clean – and I mean properly clean, not just “made the bed and emptied the trash” clean. The staff at check-in actually seemed to know what they were doing, which sadly isn’t always a given at this price point. The wi-fi is solid (tested it on multiple video calls), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine warming up. Small things, sure, but when you’re jet-lagged and just want things to work, these details matter. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but you’re not going to find much to complain about either.
I think this spot works best for people who want easy access to Osaka’s transport links without paying premium prices for a central location. That Shin-Osaka connection is genuinely useful – you can be in Kyoto in about 45 minutes, or catch the shinkansen if you’re heading elsewhere in Japan. The area around Higashiawaji station has that authentic, lived-in feel where you can grab groceries, find a barber shop, or just watch normal Japanese life happen without feeling like you’re performing tourism every second. It’s not going to give you Instagram-worthy lobby shots, but sometimes you just want a reliable place to sleep that doesn’t eat up half your travel budget.

A lot of space, very close to Awaji-eki of Hankyuu-sen , probably takes 3 minutes walk with 7kmh walking speed, the property has 2 toilets and most facilities are nice including microwave freezer and refrigerator.
Also close to grocieries shops with large selection of food.
Very quiet neighborhood
What could be improved: The kettle was partially functioning and required some skill and precision to be turned on and boil some water.
The staff forgot to leave check in table forcing me to do the check-in manually, the tablet most likely contianed all
the information about the facilities including WiFi password and how to use the safe in kitchen.
WiFi router was located in the neighboring house which made the loading speeds via WiFi5 very slow, but the WiFi2.4GHz for normal usage was sufficient and had enough speed.
Could be a bit noisy in the afternoon because of the neighboring kindergarten, although its also makes it lively there.Imee from Philippines – 21 May 2025 (9/10)
just key in the passkeys that is very convenient
What could be improved: nothingMa from United States – 5 May 2025 (9/10)
Just right for our family size, good location, within walking distance to good restaurants/market and train station.
What could be improved: The only problem is there is no restroom on the second floor. Only restroom is inconveniently located facing entrance door on the first floor. Need to replace the already peeling off floor covering/ tile carpeting under the dining table in the receiving room. It is a trip hazard.Martina from Slovakia – 15 March 2025 (9/10)
Quite a lot od space in the appartment, 2 warmed toilets and nice bathroom with washing mashine. Close to small train station.
What could be improved: No knife or cup in the appartment (only glasses), I missed little warm Color light in the bedroomRafidah from Singapore – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
The property was spacious, clean and near to the train station. There were many convenience stores nearby. Communication was fast and instructions were clear.
What could be improved: I would prefer an earlier check in. 5pm is a bit late. An extra toilet/WC would have been great for our family of 5. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay here.Deepak from India – 12 December 2024 (9/10)

It is so near to Awaji Station (Hankyu and JR), to Oasis (grocery store) and it is a quiet neighborhood. My friends went jogging around the area early in morning.
What could be improved: The WiFi was okay but it wont connect you to the 2nd room upstairs.Chin from Brunei Darussalam – 15 April 2024 (9/10)
The rooms was spacious and the bathroom was clean! Love that it has the space of the whole house so it doesn't feel cramp at all. There'a a family mart, lawson and 7-11 nearby as well as an Oasis (supermarket). Hankyu subway line and JR line easily accessible.
What could be improved: It is close to other houses so we try our best to stay quiet and we didn't really turn on the TV because of that.Kanthaksada from Thailand – 26 February 2024 (7/10)
This is the great accommodation for traveling in group
What could be improved: There is only one toilet in the house.Monica from South Korea – 17 January 2024 (8/10)
The house was great. Very spacious and comfortable and the host was very communicative during our stay. It has a big bathtub and the kitchen was good too. They have two stations nearby and many convenience stores. It's a residential area but there are also some places to eat around there. It's also a good location to go to Kyoto by subway!
What could be improved: The location is good if you're using JR pass or going to/from Kyoto, otherwise to go and come back to the main area of Osaka will cost you around 8 dollars per round trip which we found a little bit expensive. Some of my friends said the beds could be a little more comfortable too and they only have the very very basic things at the place (ex: no extra blankets or cushions) but it wasn't an issue during our stay.
