I mean, they’ve got proper blackout curtains, which sounds trivial until you’re trying to sleep off jet lag and realize half the hotels in the area have these flimsy things that let in every neon sign from the street.

The neighborhood itself is kind of a gem that most visitors miss. You’ve got this fantastic little ramen shop about two blocks away that stays open until 2 AM – the kind of place where salarymen stop by after work and the owner knows everyone’s usual order. There’s also a convenience store practically next door, which saved me more than once when I needed phone chargers or wanted to grab breakfast before heading out. The train connections are actually better than you’d think; you can get to Osaka Station in about fifteen minutes, and Kansai Airport is a straight shot without transfers if you time it right. One thing worth mentioning – the area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is either perfect for a good night’s sleep or potentially boring if you’re looking to stumble home from karaoke at 3 AM. Honestly though, I found it refreshing to have a peaceful base to return to after spending days in the organized chaos that is central Osaka. The whole experience just felt more authentic somehow, like I was staying somewhere that existed for travelers rather than tourists, if that makes sense.

  What could be improved: the flooring had these little wood chippings that would get stuck on our clothes & socks but other than that we enjoyed staying in JS204.
