Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Tanimachi Kimiboshi Hotel? It’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Kujo that most tourists never see – and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re still in Osaka, but it feels like you’ve stumbled into where actual people live and work, not just where they take Instagram photos.
The hotel itself is pretty straightforward – it’s a solid 3-star spot that doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy, but everything just works. The lobby’s got this understated Japanese business hotel vibe, clean lines and that particular smell of fresh tatami and mild disinfectant that somehow feels reassuring. Check-in was quick (the staff spoke decent English, which was a relief), and I appreciated that they actually explained the local area instead of just handing over a generic city map. The rooms are compact but thoughtfully laid out – you know how some budget places feel cramped? This doesn’t. The bed was firm in that good Japanese way, and the bathroom, while small, had excellent water pressure and stayed warm even late at night.
What really won me over was the location, though. You’re about a 7-minute walk to Kujo Station, which puts you on the Hanshin Main Line – super convenient for getting to Namba or even over to Kobe if you’re feeling adventurous. But here’s the thing most people miss: the neighborhood itself is fantastic for just wandering around. There’s this tiny ramen shop two blocks south that doesn’t even have a sign in English, but the owner recognized me after the second visit and started adding extra chashu without being asked. The nearby Sumiyoshi Park is perfect for morning walks, especially in spring when the cherry trees are doing their thing. And if you need convenience stores (which, let’s be honest, you will), there’s a Lawson basically across the street and a 7-Eleven about three minutes away.
The hotel gets busy during festival season – I was there during Tenjin Matsuri and the place was packed with Japanese families, which I took as a good sign. It did get a bit noisy in the hallways around 10 PM, but nothing too crazy, and by midnight it was quiet again. Parking is available but limited, so if you’re driving, definitely call ahead. The breakfast isn’t included, but there’s a kissaten (old-school coffee shop) next door that does excellent morning sets with thick toast and surprisingly good coffee for about 600 yen.
Look, this isn’t the kind of place that’s going to show up in glossy travel magazines, and the lobby doesn’t have a fancy waterfall or anything. But if you want a clean, comfortable base for exploring Osaka without paying tourist prices, and you actually want to see how the city feels when you’re not surrounded by other visitors taking the same photos, this is your spot. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Location to trains and eateries were superb. Market is down the street. Rental was clean, safe and comfortable. Thank you
What could be improved: Lack of instruction for washing machine. Another plate would have been nice!Chihiro from Japan – 26 May 2025 (9/10)

It was a small Japanese apartment with it's own kitchenette. Didn't feel like a hotel and seemed quite private. The wardrobe was quite spacious, however it would benefit of more hangers

谷町君星ホテル九条27 was one of the best value stays I’ve had in Osaka. The location is super convenient, just a short walk to a large supermarket, Sushiro, and plenty of restaurants. The neighborhood is peaceful, and the room itself is quiet, chill, and surprisingly spacious. Everything worked well, and the overall experience was smooth. Travel to other parts of the city was also reasonably easy.
What could be improved: The only minor inconvenience was that the room comes with just one key. It’s not a huge issue, but if you're traveling with someone else, it requires a bit of coordination. We worked around it by using the lockbox so both of us could access the room separately if needed.Isabella from Switzerland – 21 April 2025 (8/10)
The flat is very pleasent and the bed is comfy.
What could be improved: No cutlery available, very little crockery.Eliud from Mexico – 14 April 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: There was no hanger for the laundry

Everything was perfect. It was clean, quiet location but still close to the station and convience stores. Only small complaint that I would have is that the wifi connection wasn't that strong on my room (but that didn't really bother me).
Rangi from Australia – 27 March 2025 (9/10)
I liked how spacious the room/bathroom was. The amenities were readily available even though we didn’t get daily cleans which was very helpful. The beds were comfy as well.

There are 2 metro line nearby so convenience. The hotel have all you need perfect. There are super market nearby and some local restaurant around the station.
What could be improved: NothingMin from South Korea – 29 December 2024 (9/10)
It was the perfect size for two people to use alone. Unlike regular hotels, it was really good that there were cookware and kitchen, and the cleanliness of the bathroom and bathroom and the quality of the amenities were good. I liked the quietness around the hotel even in the evening, and I was satisfied because there was a large mart and convenience store selling household goods nearby.
What could be improved: Quiet in the evening means there's some distance from the station, right? However, it doesn't stop much and it's a walkable distance. I can't think of any drawbacks.
