Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Taniguchi-kun Hotel WE Namba 28? It’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Naniwa-ku that feels completely removed from the chaos of central Namba, yet you’re literally a 7-minute walk from Dotonbori’s neon madness. I mean, finding it initially was a bit tricky – the address on Shikitsu Nishi basically puts you in this neighborhood where actual Osakans live, not just tourists stumbling around with their phones out.
The whole setup is honestly pretty clever. It’s one of those newer boutique places that gets the balance right between being polished enough for business travelers but relaxed enough that you don’t feel like you’re staying in some sterile corporate box. The lobby’s got this understated modern thing going on – lots of clean lines and warm wood, but nothing too precious or Instagram-obsessed. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist traps. They pointed me toward this tiny takoyaki spot two blocks over that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it was better than anything I had in the main tourist areas.
What really won me over though was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to walk to Kuromon Ichiba Market for breakfast (which, if you haven’t done that – the tuna sashimi stalls open early and it’s incredible), but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with drunk salarymen singing karaoke until 3 AM. The rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed – I actually appreciated that they didn’t try to cram in unnecessary furniture just to fill space. The bed was legitimately comfortable, which isn’t always a given in this price range, and the bathroom had one of those deep Japanese tubs that’s perfect after walking around Osaka all day. The whole place just feels like someone actually thought about what travelers need versus what looks good in photos. That 8.9 rating makes sense when you stay there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you easy access to both the tourist stuff and the real Osaka. Plus, Namba Station is close enough that getting anywhere in the city is simple, but you’re not paying the premium you’d shell out for something right on the main strip.

Good location close to Metro and JR stations. Few good local restaurants nearby. Calm neighborhood. Easy communication with owner … apartment was very clean (Japan standard) and has everything that we needed. It will be perfect for a long-term stay.

Elena from Australia – 30 April 2025 (9/10)
This place exceeded expectations: definitely one of my best stays in Japan. The bed was super comfy, and having a washing machine made travel so much easier.
The TV includes English Netflix, which is a rare bonus. Despite some reviews, the kitchen was well-stocked with all the essentials: utensils, plates, and cutlery.
Customer service was great—I requested extra toilet paper through Booking.com (turns out more was downstairs), and they were quick and helpful.
The apartment is spacious, with storage for clothes and luggage. It’s in a prime spot near convenience stores, a train line, and Luup scooters/bikes. It’s either a 25-minute walk or quick train ride into town—or just 10 minutes by bike. Bonus: umbrellas downstairs in case it rains.
Would 100% stay again and recommend to anyone visiting Osaka.
Ps apologies everyone for photos and terribly made bed. I took these on my check out.
What could be improved: Nothing! Anything that I had read that might have been of concern on the website. Can confirm wasn’t an issue.Nargiz from United Kingdom – 22 April 2025 (9/10)
The property is way better than pictures. Very spacious. You will have a washing machine along with a detergent. Amazing kitchen.

We found everything you could need in an apartment. It was very confortable and in a great location. Actually, we were pleasantly surprised. I would recommend it.
What could be improved: Maybe they could have left a printed english orientation map of the area. That always helps.Xingtao from Singapore – 4 January 2025 (9/10)
Room with kitchen and washing machine
Chen from Hong Kong – 23 December 2024 (9/10)
The location is good, not far from the metro. Facility is also beyond my expectations, especially for families.
Chelsea from United States – 10 December 2024 (9/10)
Space, close to a subway, storage, big bed, clean.
What could be improved: Bed was a little hard, needed a few more dishes, cups, bowels. 2 of everything was hard to make a meal at home.
