谷町君ホテル 難波80 Overview
You know what surprised me about Tanimachi-kun Hotel Namba 80? It’s actually one of those hidden gems that doesn’t try too hard but gets almost everything right. I mean, the name’s a bit of a mouthful – honestly, I just called it “the Tanimachi place” when I was telling people where I was staying – but once you find it tucked away on Ebisu Honmachi street, you’ll get why it has such a solid reputation.
The location is pretty brilliant, though you might not realize it at first glance. You’re basically in this quiet residential pocket of Naniwa-ku that feels refreshingly normal after the chaos of central Namba. It’s maybe a 7-minute walk to hit the main shopping strips, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with drunk salarymen stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The building itself has that clean, understated Japanese hotel vibe – nothing flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. Check-in was smooth (the staff actually remembered my name the next morning, which was a nice touch), and the lobby has this subtle wood-and-white aesthetic that immediately makes you feel like you can exhale.
What really won me over were the small details that show someone’s actually thinking about the guest experience. The rooms are compact but intelligently designed – I’m talking proper blackout curtains that actually block light, outlets positioned where you’d naturally want them, and a bathroom that manages to feel spacious despite being objectively tiny. The bed was firmer than what most Western travelers expect, but honestly? I slept better than I had in weeks. There’s also this little kitchenette setup that’s perfect if you want to grab ingredients from the nearby Lawson and have a quiet breakfast instead of fighting crowds at the tourist spots. The neighborhood itself is fantastic for morning walks – you’ll pass these tiny local shrines and family-run shops that haven’t changed in decades, plus there’s a surprisingly good bakery about three blocks north that locals line up at around 8 AM.
I’ll be real with you – this isn’t the kind of place with a fancy concierge or Instagram-worthy rooftop bar. It’s a solid 3-star hotel that just happens to execute the fundamentals really, really well. The WiFi is fast, the air conditioning is quiet, and when I had a question about train schedules, the front desk person didn’t just hand me a pamphlet – they actually pulled up the app and walked me through the best route. That 9-point rating isn’t an accident; it’s what happens when a place focuses on making your stay genuinely comfortable rather than just impressive. If you’re the type of traveler who values being able to actually rest and recharge between Osaka adventures, rather than staying somewhere that becomes part of the itinerary itself, you’ll probably love it here.
To visit Osaka during the spectacular cherry blossom season from late March to early May, travelers should book accommodations well in advance as this culinary capital attracts millions of visitors seeking authentic Japanese experiences and world-famous street food culture.

The little apartment was lovely and complete, equipped with everything you could need.
And the beautiful city view from the corridor is just unforgettable.
What could be improved: Beds sizes are rather small.Shilpa from India – 15 June 2025 (9/10)
Modern, clean and cosy apartment with all amenities, comfortable size, great views of the city from both the passage that led to the room and the balcony. Seamless self check-in and check-out. We had an issue with the toilet that was rectified and the entire apartment cleaned for us again after the first night on a complimentary basis due to this. Location is not too far from the Dotonburi area by taxi, though not walkable and although we did not use the local train, there was a train station within view from the apartment, would have been 3-5 minutes walk at best. We were able to use the washing machine and the microwave. Kitchen well equipped with a fridge, stove top, microwave, electric kettle, some cutlery and some pots and pans, which we did not have occasion to use.

The apartment was very big for Japan standards. So much space It had everything I needed, the kitchen was big and so was the balcony. It was so convenient being able to wash my own clothes in the apartment. If you don't like how small most hotels are then you have to stay here.

This was the most spacious accomodation we stayed in Japan, with large storage space for our luggage. There was also a little balcony, a kitchen and a washing machine. Clean and in a quiet neighbourhood, with a few really nice local shops and restaurants around.
What could be improved: It might be because we only stayed in hotels for the rest of our trip, but we felt like a reception desk would be a good to have, as you can't transfer your luggage there from another destination or leave it there before checking in (although there are some lockers, they're quite small for a normal size suitcase). It took us a bit to understand how the lock worked, but we figured it out eventually, and we preferred not to use the washing machine, as we weren't sure about the programs (it would be good to have some explanation, even in japanese, on how to use). These would probably not be issues if you're used to japanese houses or stayed in apartments before.Per from Sweden – 30 May 2025 (9/10)
Good location, near Metro Station (Daikokucho) but on a quiet street. Just a few minutes to Namba or Umeda. Nice to have washing machine/dryer, and a (small but adequate) kitchen. AC perfect and quiet.
What could be improved: Nothing.Sukumar from Australia – 24 May 2025 (9/10)
Awesome location and very close to the train station and convenience store. Lovely apartment and spacious enough with 2 kids.
What could be improved: Everything was as per the detailsWebster from Australia – 24 May 2025 (8/10)
The unit was very spacious with a good sized closet. The washer/dryer was a good feature even though we didn’t need to use them. It was pretty secure and having a balcony was good. Also close to the station.
What could be improved: Key entry into the room was fine for us but could be difficult if guests wish to access a room separately – other hotels we stayed at had pin access. We weren’t clear on instructions for check out, so asked another guest about what to do with our rubbish. The hotel is close to a busy road so we could hear sirens and traffic noise.Michael from Belgium – 23 May 2025 (8/10)
Spacious, clean, comfortable apt. Good location close to subway. Washer available and shower room doubles as drying room for clothes. Comfy big beds. Small table and chairs for eating and big wardrobe for storage. Easy self check-in and good communication from hotel. Was better in real life than what we expected from the pictures on Booking.
What could be improved: Mostly little things: only one tiny bedside table for two beds. Stove for cooking available, but no pots or pans to cook with. No USB charging spots.Errol from Philippines – 23 May 2025 (8/10)
I really enjoyed my stay at this property. The location was excellent, convenient and easy to get around. The room was clean, well-maintained, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I also appreciated how quiet and peaceful the area was, which made it easy to relax and get a good night’s sleep. Would definitely recommend!
What could be improved: A blackout curtain would be ideal for people like us who prefer to sleep in and aren’t early risers.Johnson from Philippines – 22 May 2025 (8/10)
