Hotel Description
You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first saw the name “荣-和inn401” – it’s one of those places that doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue when you’re trying to tell friends where you’re staying. But here’s the thing about this little spot in Nippombashi – it completely won me over, and I mean that in the most genuine way possible.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Osaka at all. You’re right in Naniwa-ku, which puts you walking distance from Den Den Town (think electronics and anime heaven) and honestly, you can smell the takoyaki from the street vendors before you even step outside some mornings. The inn sits on this quieter residential street that most tourists completely miss, which works in your favor because you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of Dotonbori crowds, but you’re still close enough to hit all the major spots without breaking the bank on train fare. I found myself walking to Kuromon Ichiba Market for breakfast most days – it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll, and the vendors there actually remember you after a couple visits.
What struck me most about this place is how it manages to feel both authentically Japanese and genuinely comfortable for international travelers. The rooms are compact (well, it’s Japan), but they’ve thought through every inch of space in a way that actually makes sense. The tatami flooring has this worn-in quality that tells you real people have lived here, not just passed through with rolling suitcases. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no lengthy explanations about amenities you’ll never use, just practical information about the neighborhood and genuine recommendations for nearby restaurants. The staff clearly knows the area well, and I got the impression they actually live in the district rather than just commuting in from somewhere else.
The building itself has character – you can hear the morning routines of the local salarymen heading to work, and there’s something oddly comforting about being part of an actual neighborhood rhythm instead of trapped in a tourist bubble. Evenings are surprisingly quiet considering you’re in central Osaka, though you’ll catch the occasional late-night laughter from groups heading home from izakayas. The 8.5 rating makes complete sense to me because this isn’t trying to be something it’s not – it’s a solid, well-run place that delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to experience Osaka like someone who actually lives there, rather than just hitting the Instagram spots, this inn gets it right in ways that surprised me.

Great size apartment for a group of 3-4 people. Very good location close to food, shops and attractions. Was useful to have a washing machine in the apartment.
What could be improved: Apartment smelt a little damp on arrival. Washing machine filter was quite dirty.Kelsey from Japan – 9 April 2025 (3/10)
The location was great and it is spacious, but I do not recommend this property, especially for families. It has a very strong smell of mildew/moisture damage when you walk in- that we realized was mostly coming from the bathroom and washroom area. It was so strong, we tried to air it out but there is very little airflow or natural lighting in the apartment. It made the whole apartment feel dingy and dirty, even though it was relatively clean (other than a very dirty bathroom mirror).
One of the couches is broken and is so uncomfortable to sit on, and part of why we booked this was to have a sitting area separate from the bedroom, so this was very disappointing.
The trash instructions are very unclear, and being used to Japan’s standards we expected to sort it- but there is only one small trash can in the kitchen. We stayed for a week, so we had a lot of trash to deal with and nowhere to put it.
There was no broom or vacuum, so the floor was constantly dirty all week.
The building itself is VERY loud, you hear every footstep and door closing, as well as outside noise during the night. We even had a problem twice of our neighbors(other travelers) opening our door twice accidentally. It was very unsettling.
Overall really wish we would’ve stayed somewhere else, but couldn’t afford to cancel and book another one.Haowei from Taiwan – 16 May 2025 (9/10)
