You know what? When I first saw the name “樂居Casa Alegria” I thought it might be one of those gimmicky places trying too hard to be international, but honestly – this little gem completely won me over. It’s tucked away on a quiet residential street in Tamaде, just a quick three-minute walk from Kishisato-Tamaде Station, and I mean actually three minutes, not that inflated “close to everything” nonsense you usually see.

The house itself feels like stepping into someone’s well-loved family home – which, I suppose, is exactly what it is. There’s this wonderful lived-in quality that you don’t get in regular hotels, with tatami mats that smell faintly of fresh rushes and those satisfying wooden floors that creak just slightly when you walk around in the morning. The space genuinely sleeps eight people comfortably, and I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim similar capacity but leave you fighting over bathroom time. Here, the layout actually makes sense – there’s enough room to spread out without feeling like you’re camping indoors. The kitchen is probably my favorite part; it’s got everything you need if you want to hit up the local Tamade market (which is maybe a five-minute walk) and cook up some proper Japanese ingredients instead of eating out every meal.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the neighborhood – you’re staying in actual residential Osaka, not some tourist bubble. In the mornings, you’ll hear the gentle clatter of bicycles and the occasional “ohayo gozaimasu” from neighbors heading to work. The area gets surprisingly quiet after 9 PM, which is perfect if you’re dealing with jet lag or just want to decompress after a day of temple-hopping and street food adventures. The train connection is honestly unbeatable – you can be in Namba in about fifteen minutes, or hit Sumiyoshi Taisha (one of Osaka’s most beautiful shrines) in the opposite direction. I actually discovered some incredible little izakayas within walking distance that I never would have found staying in a conventional hotel district. The owner left this thoughtful little guide with handwritten notes about local spots, including a bakery around the corner that does these amazing melon pan – trust me on this one. Sure, it’s not going to have room service or a concierge, but that 8.4 rating reflects something more valuable: it feels authentic. If you want to experience Osaka like you’re staying with friends rather than just passing through, this is your spot.

  Convenient to train station and Family Mart. Roomy enough for the 5 of us.
  
  What could be improved: There was a strong musty/sewer smell upon entering. It dissipated some over time after spraying the downstairs floor with air freshener. Also, there was hair in the tub and on the comforters of 2 of the beds.

  This house is fantastic! It’s spacious, with three floors, making it perfect for a family. Staying here gives you a unique chance to experience what it’s like to live in a traditional Japanese home, which added so much charm to our trip.
  
  The location is very convenient for travel, offering great value for money. You can easily reach the center of Osaka, making it a great base for exploring the city. Despite being so accessible, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, providing the perfect environment to relax after a busy day.

  ダイニングセットの椅子のひとつがネジが緩んでグラグラしていた。
  和室の座布団は、もう少しボリュームのあるものがよかった。
  ２階のトイレにタオルがなかった。
  近所のおばさん(3人)が、家の前でこちらの悪口を言っていた。

  全体的には清潔感があり、快適に過ごすことができました。
  最寄り駅からのアクセスも良く、買い物もできて便利でした。
  
  What could be improved: 浴室内が汚かった点が残念でした。排水溝にゴミがたくさん溜まっていて水の流れが悪かったのでゴミを取りました。
  また浴槽を掃除するスポンジや、洗い場用の洗面器や椅子がなく不便でした。
