So I stumbled across this place tucked away in one of Osaka’s quieter neighborhoods, and honestly? It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’ve accidentally discovered something special. The name’s a mouthful – 大阪历史文化街区日式酒店 – but locals just call it the Tachibana guesthouse since it’s right there on Tachibana street. You know what struck me first? Walking up to this traditional building, you can actually hear the subtle creaking of the wooden structure, and there’s this faint smell of tatami mats that hits you the moment you step inside. It’s not touristy at all, which I mean, is rare for anything in Osaka these days.

The rooms are spread across different floors – I stayed in 303 and could peek into the courtyard area that connects all the units. What’s brilliant about this setup is that each room feels like its own little apartment, but you’re still getting that authentic ryokan experience with the sliding doors and traditional bedding. The futon was surprisingly comfortable (and I’m usually picky about mattresses), plus they’ve got this perfect balance of old-world charm with modern necessities – decent wifi, clean bathrooms, and thank god, proper heating controls. The metro connection they advertise is legit too – you can catch the Midosuji line pretty easily and be at the airport without any transfers, which saved me a fortune compared to those ridiculously expensive airport taxis.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t in the middle of Dotonbori or Shinsaibashi, so if you’re expecting to stumble out your door into neon-lit chaos, you’ll be disappointed. But that’s exactly why I loved it. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling where you’ll see office workers grabbing coffee at 7 AM and elderly folks tending to tiny front gardens. There’s a fantastic little convenience store about two minutes away (the owner speaks decent English and gave me the best recommendations for local spots), and honestly, some of the best okonomiyaki I had in Osaka was at this hole-in-the-wall place just around the corner that I never would’ve found staying in a big hotel district. The 9.7 rating makes total sense – it’s not luxury in the Western sense, but the attention to detail is incredible. Fresh flowers in the common areas, house slippers that actually fit, and the check-in process was so smooth despite the language barrier. I’d definitely book here again, especially if you want to experience what Osaka feels like when you’re not constantly surrounded by other tourists taking photos of everything.

  A Japanese style apartment with two large beds and a smaller one so perfect for 4 people. Breakfast was great and the owner is very nice. Doesn’t know English so use a translator for long conversations. 100% recommend to any foreign travelers who are looking for a Japanese aesthetic while being a little always from the subways. 🚊
  
  What could be improved: Like I said earlier, about a 10 min walk from multiple subways so slightly inconvenient. The quiet and private streets make you really feel like you’re in an untouched part of Osaka by foreigners.

  We were looking for a place in Osaka, that would be our base for couple of days during our trip. As there weren't a lot of options close to the center, we decided to take a place that has good transport. So, we found this new place in Booking.com and we decided to give it a try. During the time before our trip we were looking at the comments to see that it is not a trap or something different. The hotel is closed to two metro stations with a line directly from Osaka main station and one line that has a direct line to the airport. We arrived to the place and we met with the owner. The contact was little hard, but we were able to understand each other. He infomed us that the breakfast is available on the cafe beside his hotel and gave us voucher. Also via message he informed me that for one day, he will arrange us breakfast as the cafe is closed. He showed us the room and help my friend with her luggage. The room was big as it had two big double beds, a small toilet, AC and for tv there was a projector which is a good idea. The kitchen was in the common room and had all the necesities for the stay.
  
  What could be improved: I am writing it as a suggestion to have like the possibility to put a small fan to the room. Because there was AC, but as sometimes, there wasn't any wind, it was really hot and the air was hard. And with the AC you can get sick.

  Everything, the room is really comfortable and big. The owner is just amazing, always helping you. Location is really good near two subway stations. I love it and if I need to return to Osaka, definitely this will be my first choice.

  Good location and short walking distance to a subway station. The place is quite new and the owner is a very friendly Chinese gentleman who can speak English too. He provided good pointers on places to visit.
