Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from レインボーコート青谷 when I first booked it – the name translates to Rainbow Court Aoya, which sounds pretty generic, right? But man, this little 3-star gem in Osaka completely caught me off guard. It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in the Ikeda area, and I mean *really* tucked away – you’ll probably walk past it once before you spot the understated entrance. The whole building has this clean, minimalist vibe that feels authentically Japanese without trying too hard to impress tourists.
What really got me was how the staff anticipated things I didn’t even know I needed. The front desk guy – who spoke surprisingly good English, by the way – handed me a hand-drawn map showing not just the obvious train stations, but the best konbini for late-night snacks and this incredible little ramen shop that’s literally a 3-minute walk down the street. You know what’s funny? The hotel’s got this 9.4 rating, and I kept wondering if it was inflated, but after staying there… yeah, I get it. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Japan, after all), but everything just *works*. The bed was firm in that perfect Japanese way, the tiny bathroom somehow felt spacious because of how cleverly it’s designed, and the air conditioning – crucial in Osaka’s sticky summers – was whisper quiet. I’m usually a light sleeper, but the street is so peaceful that I actually slept better than I do at home.
The location turned out to be this perfect sweet spot between convenience and authenticity. You’re far enough from the tourist madness of Dotonbori to feel like you’re experiencing real Osaka life, but close enough to hop on the train and be in the thick of things in 15 minutes. There’s this little park across the street where locals walk their dogs in the morning, and I found myself just sitting there with coffee from the vending machine downstairs, watching the neighborhood wake up. The only minor thing – and I’m really reaching here – is that the elevator is pretty small, so if you’re traveling with huge suitcases, you might need to make two trips. But honestly, that’s such a small detail compared to how welcoming this place feels. I’ve stayed at fancier hotels in Osaka that felt sterile and forgettable, but Rainbow Court has this warmth that makes you want to come back. Plus, for what you pay, the value is just ridiculous – I kept double-checking my booking confirmation because it felt like I was getting away with something.

Location was very central to everything, right on the Osaka loop line and very easy to get to everything

Easy, flexible
What could be improved: Wish I could have stayed longer!Ira from Philippines – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
The property is spacious compared to other properties in the area. It is very tidy and all things are in order. It is also functional such that it has all things you might reasonably need for a comfortable stay. The host is also very helpful and friendly. We had a little hiccup when checking in but all other else was a breeze! Also, as a family traveler, we prefer locations that are in quiet neighborhood but still accessible. The place hits both. It is not very near the train station but you can access two train stations servicing different lines in 5-7 minutes.
What could be improved: I like everything about the property! But if there is something that one must be aware, they don’t have a drinking water which is available in some properties. Not a deal breaker for us but just so you know.Jinhee from Canada – 20 May 2025 (9/10)
Good location, size and value for the money. Clean and good amenities

A very comfortable and spacious apartment with a great kitchen. The location is excellent — despite being on the ground floor, the apartment is very quiet. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, and anything else you might need nearby. Just 500 meters away, there’s a Yamato Transport warehouse where you can send your luggage.

That was an amazing place to spend our 5 days. Apartment is very cozy and surprisingly bigger than I imagined. Location is perfect. It’s right next to the 7/11 and the streets with a huge variety of restaurants. It’s located right in the middle between two different metro stations (5 min walk from the apartment both) which made it really easy to go anywhere we want without any need to use the taxi.
What could be improved: Bed could be a bit bigger 😄 but it was still comfortableGerardo from Denmark – 6 January 2025 (10/10)
The apartment is spacious (for japanese standards :)), well lit and all the interior is new, as are all appliances. It is very well located, very close to the massive entertainment area of Tenma (about 100 meters from the first set of restaurants) but very quiet. Closest stations are Hankyu (about 450m) and JR (a bit more). No stairs, it is the ground floor. There is a well-stocked convenience store right in the corner, and a supermarket less than 5 min walking. The host, Sakugawa, was very professional and helpful, even helped us manage our takkyubin (luggage forwarding service) both arriving in Osaka and thereafter sending it to Haneda. Kitchen was well furnished, beds comfortable (two of them, size somewhere between twin and queen), the bathroom had a soak-in tub. It has two AC units that double up as heat pumps. We were a family of four, with kids under 10, and loved the place.
What could be improved: For those who care about it, there isn't yet a TV set in the apartment.Tracey from Australia – 25 March 2025 (9/10)
Very convenient to shopping, restaurants and trains. Loved our stay here.
What could be improved: No clothes dryer. No privacy door to 2nd bedroom.Marylene from Canada – 26 May 2025 (7/10)
Great location / area. Very clean and owners very responsive. Easy check-in / out.
What could be improved: Not exactly as advertised – it said “2 bedrooms and a sofa bed”. In fact, it is one separate bedroom, on bed in an alcove, and a futon to put on the floor in the bedroom. But it’s a nice space to spend a few days. There are dishes but no dishcloths.Guna from Latvia – 26 May 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: Ļoti mazas terases, no tām nepaverās nekāds skats.
